so many people say that they cant even hear theirs and yet i can hear it from 9 feet away just blowing away. Seems like it used to be quieter and now its not. treebark_basic
u know wat it is, u read all this BS about the fans and what, and all u do is concentrate on the fan all day and ull be delusional and worry about the fan and all ull do is think its defective, listen bro if the fan steps down once in a while when u not doin anythin then playin a game or movie and it steps back up its ok, but if its high ALL THE TIME then MAYBE just MAYBE there mite be somethin wrong with it, but i highly doubt that, when i first got my PS3 (was on launch) and knock on wood works like a charm, the fan been great, its quiet, it steps up a knotch when im playin a game for over 5 hrs, i go back to XMB after a few mins or so it will step down, i read all these posts and threads about people havin problem, yes some did have em, but the rest just over exaggerated and made it seem like its a big deal, this wat i recommend u to do man, TURN UR PS3 ON, see how the fan works listen to it, if ur at XMB and it increased for no reason, and didnt go down then u mite have a problem (im no expert though) but if it did ur ok, try playin a game or 2 for couple of hrs see if the fan goes higher and hen go back to XMB eject ur game and wait for 2 to 5 mins see if it will decrease, and like i said if it didnt after a while thenu mite have aproblem or like sony told others its ok its actually better it cools ur system faster. sorry for the long post
