They are pretty much the exact same consoles, one is smaller and one is bigger and yeah you can run linux on the fat Ps3's but I have a PC so why would I want linux? PS3 slim runs quieter, uses less power and is easier to place infront of the TV but the PS3 fat looks sexier and can run Linux.
Both are great. I still have my launch 60gig and it works just as well (plus all the extra features) as my friends slim. I do like the look of the slim a lot more though.
I prefer my PS3 Phat to the newer slim models. I like the look of the phat one much more than the slim. But it all comes down to preference and aslong as they both play PS3 games it shouldn't matter.
