I have a 40GB PS3.

I have 4 games and it says I ahve 29GB free. Now by adding up the games storage data and stuff it doesnt equal up to over 10GB.

Is the reason I have 29GB because of the PS3 system updates? If so I would like to know what I am going to do if it continues to eat up my space.

It won't give you exactly 40GB. The system updates I guess would take up a small ammount of it, but even if you start with a clean slate, you can never have all 40GBs.

The 80GB only comes with 72GB available right out of the box, so yeah, you'll never have all 40GB, you greedy guy.

And like above poster said, all your other media on the HDD take up collective space.

And I'm just quoting a bunch of other people, so really, there's no point to this post...

-_-

[EDIT]

37 - 10 = 27.

So add up your game data memory and if you get around 8GB then you're where you should be with your 29GB.

As I said I cant see how 3 system updates and having 4 games data and stuff take up 8GB.

Plus i know I will never have the full 40GB The max I can ahve is 37 and it says so.

EDIT: The following are with both game data & Saved data

My games

R&C. 418MB

Burnout. 398MB

Indiana Jones Lego. 94KB

Sega Super Star Tennis. 19MB

Are you looking at Game Data or Save Data?

And, you should try clearing your message box, if you use the online.

And uh...can't think of anything else...

It's weird , I have this problem, too. I have only 25GB left, but I have a lot of other games as well as Metal Gear Solid 4 which takes up approximately 5GB! I think the System Update has something to do with it, as well as the XMB bar, that's just me though.
