I'm staying in a motel temporarily, and when I connect to the internet here, my ps3 freezes permanently, it turns on, makes the lil' sound, and right before it gets to the thing with all the tabs and the games and whatnot, it freezes, I can't do anything when it happens, waiting it out never works, and I don't know what to do. It's happened with every ps3 I've had, and I've had like 3 or 4 (had to get new ones because the other ones broke trying to connect to internet). I was able to connect the PS3 to my phones hotspot, but I no longer use the hotspot, so it's not that my ps3 can't connect to internet in general, just this motel's internet. Anyone got an idea as to why this happens? I'm staying in a studio 6 motel if that helps anything.

TL;DR - PlayStation 3 freezes when it connects to motel internet, but connects to other internet perfectly fine

@panics: Looks like I'm late on this one, in case anyone still has a similar issue this might help:

1.) Turn off PS3 so the red light is on.

2.) Hold and keep holding the power button. The console will turn on, and eventually turn off again.

3.) Once off, with the red light on again, press and hold the power button. You will hear one beep, another single beep after that, and then two beeps in a row. After the two beeps, let go of the power button so it doesn't turn off again and you'll end up in the system recovery menu.:

4) "Rebuild Database" which should be option 4 (this might take a little time be patient).

This helped me in past with network issues.

I had this problem before. Nothing seemed to help, I even replaced hard drive and everything.

To answer the question though i eventually solved the problem by reseting the internet settings and entering a dns manually.

Heres a link to where i found this solution. The dns listed here is the one i used hope this helps.

Primary 208 67 222 222 secondary 208 67 220 220

Edit. Sorry link wouldnt work
