After about 30-60 minutes of playing, my PS3 freezes. When I turn it on immediately after shutting it off, it only lasts a few minutes. I can hear the fan running at top speed and I also cleaned it out a few weeks ago so it is clean. Any ideas what it could be? Thanks in advance.

If you're playing Skyrim may not be the case that your PS3 is dying...

Mine has never froze before now though, but I think it is just overheating. Should I get a new fan or just give up and buy a new console. Just missing a great BlackFriday deal, that would make me a tad bit angry...

Is your system enclosed in a cabinet? On the carpet? If it can breathe then it shouldn't be overheating. Follow your gut I supposed with regards to grabbing a deal.

I have it in a good place, on a wood stand in the open. Not to hot, and I even have a normal fan blowing on it.

Depends if you are playing skyrim or not....

But it does seem like your ps3 is dieing. My ps3 kept on freezing then green lines with little white boxes filled the screen.

If he's playing any Bethesda game, it could just be the game.

We saw a ton of these threads last year when New Vegas came out too.

I don't bother buying Bethesda games on the ps3 anymore. When I get Skyrim, it'll be for the pc.

You would need either both PS3 consoles in working order and connect them with a ethernet cable, or buy a external hardrive. For 320GB it is about $90. Thanks for the replies, I suppose I will get a new one.
