I thought I was the only one. My first PS3 got so bad that it wouldn't play anything without freezing. I just took it back and cashed in my warranty. That was about a month ago, so after losing my one year warranty and all of my game saves I got a new system and today it froze for the first time during God of War 2. I think I may just buy another PS2 and play ps2 games on that.

gowII froze on my ps2 so i dont think it was the ps3. what part was it? The Title Screen, The Loading Screen, and The stage right after you freed Peagusus.
Had two freezes attributed to bad discs in while playing PS2 games (FF XII and God of War 2). I was able to access the OS and exit the game. Exchanged each of the discs (and look at EB games in a questionable light now)
Enchanted Arms gives me a full on, system crashing freeze; twice now. I hate this game. Exchanged the disk, now we'll see. (And my paranoia has swelled to convince me that EB games is mass burning cheap as* copies of broken games and selling them at full price :))
I've contacted Sony each time regarding the freeze and they are sending me "the box" (in which to put my PS3 and exchange her for a working model).
Sigh. Regardless of all, I am still a Ken Kutaragi's **** I see my two weeks sans PS3 as an opportuinity to give my PSP some much needed love. My signifigant other was tremendously thrilled when I shared the news.
mine never froze on me while playing PS2 games but it did freeze on me when i tried to play one of the new game types on Resistance the day it that game type came out
I have had PS2 games playing on mine for up to 12+ hours at a time(taking a few 5 minute breaks to stretch). I have had no freezes at all. But it could be an issue if the firmware isn't updated. I have seen display models that were frozen due to un vented display cabinets.
I said 1-3, but keep in mind that ive re-beat GTA:SA completely, Almost done with MGS3 for the 75834587 time(this time without being seen) , i play Dave Mirra BMX 2 alot and its a PS2 release title.. I like to play Gran Turismo 4 from time to time as well. I also rebeat MGS1 and Castlevania Symphony of the night, both for PS1. So long story short my PS3 gets a very healthy workout, therefore 1-3 freezes on hundreds of hours of backwards compatible play, is still quite impressive in my eyes.
My first ps3 froze about 1 or 2 times a day playing oblivion. The wifi stooped working so I sent it back lost all of my saves. I got my new one and it froze the day. Now it freezes 2 or 3 times a day I'm going to send it back and try again.
on only one game(out of about 14 i play regularly)-gt4 original. turns out i searched the compatability list and the original gran turismo 4 has been known to freeze up. i got the greatest hits one and it works flawlessly.
some people dont realise with every update sony also throws inmore games that are compatable-Without updating some games wont work-people please updat your ps3!
've had the problem of my system completely locking up in carbon for ps3. it was only when i went into my cars. somehow the file became corrupted according to ea. i dunno, deleted the old file and had to redo everything. love ea for locking their game saves. . . . jerks.
I haven't had any freezes, but the sound stopped working once on Tiger 2007, when I exited it, and restarted, then the sound worked again. Anyone else have this happen?
