It just adds PSVita integration as the main thing, and in Australia, it adds 1 local video thing (Quickflix).

They are hidden since they only mention the main features which were: Support has been added to integrate with the Playstation Vita system: Receive messages sent using the Group messaging of the PS Vita system Share content from the PS3 and Vita systems Back up various types of files saved on the PS Vita systemThey arent hidden, it says that stuff when you update.

Ahh lame update, mostly about Vita.
I really wish they'd make cross game chat already. What is stopping them really? Make the freakin chat you can do on the XMB but make it so you can still use it during game time.
gotdangit
They already said it's not happening, the way the PS3 uses RAM doesn't allow it.

I don't understand how they can have a system that uses voice chat and video chat, but they can't make that simpler and let people use it while playing games. Doesn't the ps3 have more RAM then Xbox, why can the Xbox use do it, where is the RAM going. We won't see cross game chat until the PS4. It is pointless to add it now. I'm sure there are reasons for it. They can make a lot of changes to the PSN with a new console me thinks???Ahh lame update, mostly about Vita.

You'll have to copy & paste that, can't link it. Basically all the RAM goes towards the game when you are playing, and it can't handle cross-game chat.
Maybe it will finally fix my bluray movie freezing problem :( I'm not one for blaming firmwares on breaking stuff, but one of the latest updates completely screwed me out of my movie watching capability...
I would also like to add that there is no PS+ icon on the XMB now, contrary to the second comment. Oh well..I honestly feel like the XMB is getting really freaking cluttered now. It no longer feels simple and minimalist to me anymore, it just looks like a big mess. I wouldn't mind if Sony wanted to design some sort of new interface, but I know that's not going to happen...

Actually the PS+ icon is on the XMB, right next to the Playstation Store. I don't really see how this makes it anymore cluttered than it already is though...
Am I the only one who sees the irony of all this?
A major update which is pretty much for their next piece of hardware which is pretty much going to get the same crappy support.
What makes them think I'm going to buy a Vita when their attention to the ps3 & psp post launch has been nothing short of attrocious.
Oh God! ou know i was hopping that when sony was just releasing some tiny bug updates and slowing down the update rate, that we were close to a major release, then considering we were still at firmware 3.7 or 3.8 them skipping straight to 4.0 made it sound like a big update disapointing sony. Lets face it the xmb is nice but it is flawed, lack of organization, lack of cleanness and lack of Psn intergration, we need a new playstation 3 interface, pronto something that sticks out and makes me glad I dished out 50 dolars for psn plus

That would be the logical thought process but this is Sony. After seeing how badly they supported the PSP (after a while it got weekly updates that were only designed to fend off hackers), I was worried about the PS3 (especially after the loss of OtherOS and the PSN hack), and now I've pretty much given up on the Playstation brand.
The ps2 was one of the greatest consoles of all time but it really seems like Sony is deliberately trying to drive away the fanbase they built with it.
Hell, if the PS3's main competiton wasn't bricking at a rate of 50%, I really think the ps3 would've been this generation's Dreamcast: a really great machine killed by terrible support and bad timing.

I don't know the icon still isn't there on mine.Don't forget the Brazillian Portuguese language support , props for guerila games and naughty dog for adding it to their games too , even though I don't use it lol , I think it'd sound dumb.

They can make a lot of changes to the PSN with a new console me thinks??? Sony has already stated their will not be another system until late 2014, Microsoft has confirmed this by stating that their next ten system (not a 360 remodel) will be released in 2014 coinciding with the ps4 launch what Im saying is it is not to late to add any feature to any of these systems, they are essentially future proof, and if sony plans on waiting almost 3 years to release its next system they are going to have to keep its users happy. I expect many more features to come, deeper home and pen integration, some kind of revamped friends system. Im already a psn+ member so I can't speak for everyone but i believe if sony made a better friend experience, like xbox live but only offered it to psn+ users, most people would be okay hopping aboard, Sony would still have the advantage of free online play, they would just offer a more exclusive online atmosphere. Also don't get your hopes up for ps4 sony has just now gotten the ps3 down to cost, so to expect any hardware thats going to heavily out preform the ps3 is asking for a $1000 dollar game system, which is irrational, I expect the ps3/360 to have a lot longer of a life span than any game system on the market, they will both out last the ps2 easilyAhh lame update, mostly about Vita.

Have there been any issues reported with the new update?.
Also I was reading of the health warning thing popping up when you start the system so is there a way to disable that or are we stuck with it?.

No, it's not too late for them to add new features but I don't see any reason they would do so if they haven't already.
And saying that they offer a better experience than a machine that 50% likely to break AND charges a monthly fee really isn't saying much. Some would gladly deal with defects and a fee to get some decent support. At least they add some interesting features to the 360 now and then. The last big change they made to the ps3 was they TOOK AWAY the other OS option.
In other words, the ps3 support has been so horrible so far, I've long given up on the idea that they might improve it...or even just fix the broken features like the web browser.
[QUOTE="BossPerson"]make a petition remove stupid health warning every game has it why do we need it on console startup? am i gonna be seeing this on my bravia yoo lol. or make it display on/off Seriously. If they're going to go through the trouble of giving us a start up message, I would rather have it customizable to where we can put any text up there that we want.wow the health warning is just stupid. What the hell is wrong with sony?

Are the stuff that I was reading on the Playstation site true that there are alot of people having issues with the new update or are those just there to get other players worried about updating the system?.

Mine literally took like 4mins, I dunno what everyone is having issues with.
yes because the ps3 has a touch screen, track pad and a front and back facing camera, now if your saying can you play your vita on the big screen, probably, but if you are asking if you can play vita games on the ps3 absent of the vita, then noWill playstation vita games be playable on the ps3?
