That's true for first party games ie ones that SCEE release.. third Party ie EA Ubisoft etc are still selling them at full price ie £49.99..

It's not just the launch period that's the pricing from now on.. i just hope that the 3rd parties take note and drop the prices to that of SCEE.. I dont see why they should charge £10 more.

"- Sony has finally revealed how much you're going to have to pay for its first-party PS3 games at launch and it's less than the cost of Xbox 360's initial line-up." http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/767/767811p1.html truth is, and i've confermed this with a couple of shops, is that sony have not stated what the price of the games are after the launch period. afterwards it could be as much as the 360 ones.

Try it this way...

US & Japan got it 5 months early, EU gets it on time with a proper launch lineup

Software Emulation BC PS3's are the most advanced model

Why did you sell your PS2 if you had games you wanted to play before spending money on a PS3?

PS3 games are cheap in Canada. $55 or $60 CAD for new games, at Wal Mart at least. 360 games are usualy $65 or $70.

I am trying to understand the logic why you are defending sony

you just trying to twist things.

1)I sold my ps2 to finance my ps3.

2)The sooner you sell it the better  due to the fact there is going to be an influx of ps2 in ebay in march its better to sell it early to get the best price

3) i was expecting to play my games in my ps3 since a lot people in america are playing there ps2 games like okami and FXII, guess i was wrong

Guess i would have to wait longer to play my shadow of rome,FXII,okami,Fatal Frame 3 and ico!!Cheers sony

£39.99 or £49.99, those price range is exactly the same as the ps2 price range when it first came out in the UK.

At least the games are not £59.99, which what I have been expecting.

:P

I'm not defending Sony, what they did makes sense. The BC strategy was announced a long time ago. You selling your PS2 early for more cash and Sony deciding to begin production of the Software Emulation PS3's is just bad timing for you. Sony did what they said they would, you just got pinched by trying to squeeze more profit outta selling your PS2.

All that aside, are you positive those games won't be BC? To my knowledge a list does not currently exist. People are throwing the word "limited" around as if it's a tremendously bad thing. You can say the current BC of hardware emulation PS3's is "limited" compared to the total number of software titles in the PS1 and PS2 library. The truth of the matter is the hardware emulation PS3's play 97.5% of PS1 & PS2 titles. You can even say the PS3 is "limited" to playing CD,DVD,BR,PS1,PS2,PS3 discs.

What am saying is that sony should have gave all region the same ps3, then release the new ps3 after while like they going to do in america and japan. However they didnt do that because they delayed our released date further and cant afford that now. I am not saying i can play those games but when they say "limited" i doesnt sound to healthy to me specially when some games are not that popular. I am sure they will use the same as MS and ps3 will only play popular games. 97.5% is true for america and co but for european i seriously dought its anything close to that. If it is i will gladly eat my words. I am suprised that sony will not release list of games until march 23, i wonder why? maybe because people will get pissed off even more..i dont know..i saying that european have been kicked in the balls to many times by sony

"Limited" doesn't sound healthy because the media has positioned it that way.  They twist things in such a way it carries a negative connotation.

Why does EU feel so slighted?  NA and JP have had pretty slim pickings for software.  I would have gladly waited 3 more months for the launch EU is getting.  Don't even bring up cost because nobody in EU gets paid or buys in US$.

we dont get paid in $US here in europe, but we also get to pay double for the same amount of fuel oil that u guys do in the US. That would be enough to save enough money to buy 1 or 2 new ps3 games at the end of the month (just to name 1 advantage). Yes, Sony did a bad thing to benefit JP and US gamers while leaving Euro gamers behind, but still they have the best console in the market with the games we love, so... go go PS3

its actually 5 months and remember told us this a month before launch. Wether you like it or not it is very expensive in my country(UK), we do get paid more but we have too many taxes. Listen to this.

We get taxed 17.5% on any goods we buy, we have to pay tax to National Heath service, income tax, council tax(i am sure how to explain this to non-europeans but its expensive),road tax (not sure if you have this in america),congestion tax(we have to pay nearly $20 a day if we want to drive through the centre of london between the times of 7:30am to 6:30PM and so many other tax. Its expensive living in london, we have to pay nearly $5 one bus trip, $10 for one train trip..etc

so price is very high in my opinion and many other people who live in the UK

The new European PS3 won't be gimped compared to the US and JP version.  Sony stated in the past that once the software emulation was to be implemented then updates would disable any hardware emulation being done with the PS2 chipset on early models.   I suspect that update may hit when the Euro PS3 is releases and these boards will explode with US & JP PS3 users complaining that some old ass game no one's heard of isn't supported anymore.
