Hi all, Was just wondering, since i'm sitting here again, girlfriend has called dibs on the PS3 connected to our TV, she's been going nuts in Uncharted 2.. BUT i really want to play DA2 :P so now im getting creative.. since we have 2 PS3's in the household.. if i could somehow hook the PS3 up to my PC monitor (Samsung 2253BW), and get the sound through some headphones? the monitor only has DVI and VGA input.. is this in any way possible?

I have my PS3 hooked up to my 23in Samsung monitor now. You will need some components that add up to about $15 depending on where you get them. A DVI to HDMI adaptor A RCA to 3.5mm jack A female to female 3.5mm jack HDMI cable That's it. The RCA hooks into the Red and White cables, the yellow one is not used. Screw in the DVI adaptor to the monitor, plug in the HDMI cable. The Female to female jack goes onto the RCA jack then plug your headphones into the port.

According to Samsung it's HDCP compliant through DVI so all you would need is an HDMI to DVI cable, the original Multi-out cable that came with your PS3, an RCA to 3.5mm Stereo Adapter, and a 3.5mm Stereo Coupler.

oh nice.. so the PS3 can figure out for itself that the HDMI and multi-out are both plugged in, and sound goes through the red/white and picture through the HDMI?

Not so much. Audio and Video Sources can be configured seperately. By default your PS3 will pick up the "HDMI" connection. You'll just need to set up the Audio manually. Not hard at all.

Use monoprice.com. You'll have to wait a little for delivery but you won't find any of those items anywhere else for cheaper or better quality.
