Datel announces new line of PS3 peripherals
Mar 28, 2007 @ 12:04pm Summary: Those of you who are interested in purchasing PS3 accessories from headsets to hard drives might be interested in what Datel will be cooking up in the months ahead.
Full Text: By Eugene Huang
Hey, uh - nice keyboard. UK-based peripheral manufacturer Datel has issued a press release today regarding a new range of supplemental products to be used for Sony's PlayStation 3. Release dates haven't been set yet, but all of the below items have been confirmed for eventual production. They are, as follows:
Bluetooth Wireless Headset: £24.99/$49.99
For the gamer seeking to trashtalk his enemy without the need of tangled wires comes this wireless headset, which utilizes the Bluetooth 2.0 protocol. According to the company, it charges in under an hour, allowing you to talk for up to six hours or leave it on standby for up to 250.
Communicator Headset: £14.99/$19.99
For the more frugal customer comes this modestly-priced headset model, which connects to your PS3 through a cable.
DataMAX: £14.99/$24.99
This memory card adapter can transfer data from any PlayStation or PlayStation 2 memory card to your PS3, including high-capacity cards developed by third party manufacturers. The product also comes with a software program that helps to manage your memory card data.
HD Component Cable: £14.99/$19.99
If the composite AV cables that came with your PS3 aren't cutting it with your HDTV (and they most certainly aren't), Datel will soon be offering you an easy $20 solution. The product also comes with separate stero cables for those wishing to connect their PS3s to an external audio system.
MAX Drive 160: £99.99/$169.99
Datel has addressed gamers' concerns of limited storage capacity with this upcoming device, allowing users to supplement their PS3s with an external 160 GB hard drive. The unit comes with its own AC Adapter and connects to your PS3 via a simple USB connection.
WiFi MAX: £29.99/$39.99
This product plugs directly into your internet-connected PC, transforming it into a wireless access point for use with not just your PS3, but every other Wi-Fi supported machine you own, including video game consoles, handhelds, PDAs, and other wireless laptops and computers. Users can now connect all of the above wireless devices to the internet without the need for a wireless router, and at five times the speed of a standard Wi-Fi connection.
PowerBoard: £14.99/$19.99
While it may look to be a run-of-the mill USB keyboard, this Datel offering has been designed with the look and design of the PS3 in mind. Furthermore, it connects to your console through a lengthy 10-foot cable, making it an ideal companion to the PS3's standard wireless controller.
ive heard bad things about datel products and how they break easily. so i really only buy the sony acceroies so then i know i wont have a problem. i dont mind about the price so dont say how stupid it is but i do the same thing for microsoft too.
WOW! that HD is only 10 bucks shy of the 360 HD......wow.............jackle2071with an extra 40 gigs...it just shows that MS' prices are bloated because their products are proprieatary...its pretty ridiculous...its good that everything the ps3 is almost standard
Yeah, I'm not sure how good they are. But I've been looking for an EXTERNAL 160 HDD so I can BACK-UP my data.
