i bought my ps3 like 1 year ago, and i still have the that soft thin foam sheet around it cause i didnt want it to get dusty, does that help make it better ?? or does it make my ps3 heat up quicker?GFreydson
I am just guessing but that was prolly a bad move. It prolly trapped the heat in the system.

You're kidding, right?
ok i removed the protective covering, should i have my ps3 standing or horizontal because i read somewhere that the 360 is better in the lay down position because it takes longer to heat up, maybe the same applies to the ps3?GFreydson
I have mine horizontal. But im not sure? Its not really that big of a deal. With a PS3 you can kinda get out of that "Oh I have to diaper it, constant worry mode lol." That your used to being in. So you'll be fine. Im sure one is better than the other. But its built well. you should be fine.
Don't worry about overheating, the PS3 is built like a **** tank. It can withstand extremem temperature lol.

Sure it is well known that the Xbox 360 has had its share of overheating problems (see our feature), but how does the Sony PlayStation 3 hold up to temperature extremes? Well, if we are to believe what we are hearing from the PS3 Vault website, the answer is the PS3 handles temperature extremes pretty freaking well.
In three rounds of testing, separate PS3s were subjected to 108 hours of game play and Blu-ray movies in different environments. The locations were a standard living room, the back of a freezer van, and the inside of a hot sauna-the screen and controllers were routed outside of the freezer van and sauna for the duration of the testing.
In living room testing, the only glitch reported for the console in 108 hours was a vibration in the disc tray. This apparently only lasted 20 seconds during the 12th hour of testing, with no other incidents reported. In the freezer test, the temperature was started at 50 degrees Fahrenheit and reduced to 0 degrees during the 108 hours. Except for sluggish behavior at 0 degrees and condensation on the video cord causing a video blackout, the console kept on running. In the sauna test, the temperature was started at 100 degrees and moved up to 120 during the last 24 hours of the test. Amazingly, the only reported incidents during the sauna test was a burning smell at hour 64 and a very hot console at the the end of the test. Otherwise, the PS3 console operated normally.
It sure must be nice to have that kind of disposable income to risk utter destruction of several PS3s. Can't say I'm willing to repeat these tests myself. I'll just try and kill gaming consoles the old fashioned way by playing them until they break.
im scared, i cant afford a new ps3, so im taking care of my 60 gig ps3 as long as possible, did you the ps3 is over 700 bucks in american dollars?

I know some are still in shell shock from their other system. Or post traumatic, "My system broke" disorder. But you'll be fine now lol
