PS3 GOTY for 2009. Let the Voting Begin!

Now that all of the major title contenders for the year have been released, what game do you thinkdeserves "Game of the Year" honors the most?

I say Uncharted 2 because it was an absolute masterpiece in every regard. The gameplay, storyline, pacing, character development, soundtrack, animation, voice work, level design...everything was damn near perfect to me. It made my jaw drop more than any other game this year, quite possibly this generation.

I would love to have an intelligent discussion if anyone else is interested.

Before starting this thread did you actually read the official nominees that are up for GOTY? Because i don't think you did.

Easy Uncharted 2. MW2 isn't even in my top 5.

I want AC2 to win but if Uncharted 2 wins then thats ok too.

Batman: AA should have been a poll option instead of inFamous. Oh well, my vote goes to Uncharted 2 anyway. Batman: AA is runner-up.The_Pig_Hostage

Uncharted 2 gets my vote as its an amazing balls to the wall action game that never lets up. With that said, I would be very disappointed if Modern Warfare 2 wins as its a great game, don't get me wrong but its also over-hyped.david_lck

I think Uncharted 2 will be OVERALL GOTY against all consoles.

Demon's Souls, Batman AA, InFAMOUS, MW2, Beatles:Rockband, Assassin's Creed, and a few others obviously get a good mention though. :)

Why would they give overall GOTY to a game they rated lower than others? Uncharted 2, Forza 3, and Dragon Age: Origins all scored higher here than MW2.

My personal GOTY is Ratchet and Clank: ACIT. I'm just a huge R+C fan, so it was definitely my favorite of the year.

I really hope Batman wins the award because that game was amazing. Definitely my 2nd favorite game of the year overall. Realistically though Uncharted 2 will win the award which is fine with me. It's a fine game, but I just like ACIT and Batman more.

It just seems like it would be an odd inconsistency. And as far as overall metacritic scores, Uncharted 2 scores higher there as well. So what does MW2 have over U2? Hype? Sales? I don't think that's what they base their GOTY on (otherwise, GTA4 would have certainly beaten out MGS4 last year).The_Pig_Hostage

I'm not saying the review scores are infallible. Of course they're just one guy's opinion - but it's still the score that Gamespot as a publication stands behind. They'd be hurting their own credibility to blatantly disregard it.

Besides, a quick look back at the previous 5 years of Gamespot GOTYs shows that the highest rated game ALWAYS gets the award. I see no reason why this will change.

Anyway, enough of this, lol. I thought I was just pointing out the obvious: the less acclaimed game won't win the best game of the year award.

i know itws not possible but gow collection all the way...two games that were deff gofty for ps2 in one disk...not to mention the insane e3 gow3 demo that comes wwith it all i mean seriously gow>uncharted seriers

Having not played Demon Souls yet it has to be Uncharted 2.

Same here Uncharted 2, followed by killzone and infamous.

i know it it wont win GOTY but Resident evil 5 has my vote... what a thrillride to the very end that game was

Demon's Souls, Infamous, Ratchet and Clank Future A Crack in Time, Uncharted 2

...Ratchet and Clank Future A Crack in Time is the one I enjoyed the most. I'm surprised it is not on the choices.

My vote goes to Assassin's Creed II, because it seems to be the most interesting and memorable game of the year.

But Uncharted II will probably win here and on IGN.
