It's not fake. "The Best" is the Japanese (and some parts of Asia) name for what we call "Greatest Hits". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Best_range

Why on Earth do we want the 'greatest hits'? Yeah the game is cheaper, but it has a god ugly box art. I'd rather buy pre-owned games with the proper box art then those hideous looking things.SamcottsPSWii60

Even with the ugly box art I think they still look better than the ugly green boxes of 360 titles. For ppl on a budget I'm sure they'll get over the box art.

I haven't read everything in this thread but i'm just goin to say it's fake cause i got the same thing on my PS2,i bought Splinter Cell CT,and says the same thing exept that it's written on blue and says pplaystation 2 and also "The BEST" logo is diffrent...

By the way i bought from Bangladesh which is very close to singapore...

As for your example of your copy of Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, ever think it may be different because it's a game on the last generation of consoles? I mean the lookof the greatest hits label didn't stay the same from PS1 to PS2; why would it stay the same for PS3?

That's the basic color scheme that Japan has been using for their "best" games since Playstation 2, although with PS2 it was grey and yellow.

I think games like Boku no Natsuyasumi 3 feature that kind of box art, besides, the original art is still there if just a little shrunk.

if they'd go to playasia.com they'd see that it's very much real. Whether or not it'll be the stateside box art is yet to be determined.

ESRB is the ratings board for North America. So games outside of NA will not have a ESRB rating.

Edit: I'd like to also add that while there are other ratings boards in other regions, there are regions that do no have a ratings board (and thus will not have a rating). Take these resistance examples:

The Japanese version does have a rating because that region is governed by Computer Entertainment Rating Organization (CERO). The Asia Version does not have a rating on it because it covers a general region that has no ratings board/organization.

I guess that depends on how much you value box art. I could care less about even getting a box with the game so long as the cd works and is at a much cheaper price. I got plenty of old ps2 games that I don't even play so I could easily just put the ps3 game in one of those.

this is one of the reasons why i never liked to buy greatest hits games, because of the box, not even for ps2.

i think they do this on purpose so we could buy them before they became greatest hits....lol
