PS3 Guitar Hero 3 Controller On PS2 Guitar Hero 3

I only have a quick question i have searched but cant find my answer

I am having a get togther at a freinds house on christmas day he just bought Guitar Hero 3 on the PS2

I have it on the PS3 I wanna know if my USB adapter PS3 guitar will work on the ps2 version?
