PS3 Has just Died.. Farewell and Thanks Sony...

Well My time is up I'm afraid on the PS3 and now awaiting the PS4. Was in the middle of playing through Deus Ex again and I believe the blu ray drive has failed, with having to pay for a £1200 holiday for my family and the new generation of console coming out, i'm going to have to bid farewel to the PS3.

Thanks Sony for introducing me to the great HD Movies with the Blu Ray drive, and your machines were built to a high spec, since my PS3 was from around the Launch period. Like to thank you for the great Exclusives you can't play anywhere else and the great support on the 1st party front. ashame i won't be playing GTA V unless and i'm praying it comes to the next gen and will not be getting beyond two souls. :( but the future is looking bright and it's paving the way for me now getting a PS4 at launch. I'll see you all on the other side, keep up the good posts so i can see what i'm missing out on.

My first PS3 is still working. The old 80 gig model.

Though I've gotten a new one since and transferred the data, you know, just in cause my first decided to break down. So basically my old model is in my living room being used as a Blu-ray player. Still works, but I think it's about to kick the bucket. Didn't wanna take any chances.

When i was living back at home we had 3 ps3 going between me my dad and brother, and out of the 3 only 1 had broke completely and my brother had to buy himself a new slim ps3, but mine kept going, i had a feeling it was going to go a few months back, it kept freezing but didn't think anything of it and now it just won't read my disc's at all and i can here the drive trying hard to get going but nothing. I know good games are coming but i mean i'll get to play them at some point at a friends house i think the best investment is get myself a ps4 ride out the good titles now and we all know will have top AAA games by the end of 2014 from sony's first party people. plus with the whole ps+ free games i wont be stuck with nothing to play

If it's just the bluray drive you can order one off ebay and fix it yourself for pretty cheap, easy fix as well since you can just follow guides on youtube.

Also when my bluray drive went, I paid 80 to get it fixed in 1 hour. Works like a charm ever since.

You will save money if you do it yourself.

If it's not reading disks, but can still play PSN games. It's the laser, and you can get a replacement off of Ebay for about 35 bucks. I had to replace the laser on mine about 14 months after I bought the thing.... that was about 18 months ago.

You might be able to Download GTA5 from the Store once it comes out. You can get Max Pain 3, RDR and GTA4 there so no reason to thing 5 won't show up.

pick up a new BR drive (prob about £30 now )... and your set... no worries...

3 PS3s and none have ever gone out. a 60gb, 80gb, and a 160gb.
