Hello!
I've encountered a problem with my PS3, I've never had any issues with it and it was working fine this morning. I hadn't touched it since, then just now when I switched it on there was no picture or sound on the TV. I checked the HDMI connection and it seemed fine, so I switched off the console, switched it back on again and still no picture or sound. So after rooting around for troubleshooting article on the interweb I reconnected it using the stock SCART cable it was supplied with, reset the console by holding down the power button for 10 seconds or whatever and it works fine. I tried to set it up for HDMI again but still, no picture or sound.
From this I came to the conclusion that the problem lies with the HDMI cable, however I'm a little paranoid of it being a more serious problem with the console, and I'd rather not have to purchase a new cable if I've got a perfectly decent one here.
I don't understand why this has suddenly happened. I've never had any problems with my console, and I'm always careful to switch it to standby before using the power switch at the back. I've got 40Gb console, with the HDD swapped out for a Western Digital 320Gb HDD, but I installed the new drive months ago and so far it has worked fine, so I can't imagine it being something to do with that. The HDMI cable that I was using I bought with the console from GAME, its GAME's own brand cable but again, its never caused me any problems until now.
To me it would seem that the issue is with the HDMI cable, as I said when I ran it through the SCART lead that came with the console it was fine.
Has anyone else had similar problems, and do I just need to buy a new HDMI cable? I hope its not a hardware problem with the console, that would upset me!
Thanks for any help,
Fletch x
