I'll be honest I got my 360 at launch and have waited until last friday to get my PS3. i got an 80gb with rachet and clank and casino royale bundled with it and purchased mgs4. i've been loving mgs and R&C is just like on PS2 (which isnt bad). and i can't wait to build up my blu ray library. HOWEVER, am I crazy to think that sony is a bunch of asses for not including ANY form of HD connector? i was really shocked when i went to set it up and realized i had to go and the component cable seperately (glad i didn't want the HDMI because that one's $80!). few other gripes: you have to install things? WHY? 360 doesnt have to and the graphics are comparable (some might even say 360 is better). also the cord to recharge the controller is like 2 ft long...who the hell plays 2 feet from the tv? (well i do in my dorm but otherwise i'm like 6 ft back). not to mention the hoops i had to jump through to play metal gear online: 1) sign up for psn 2) install MGO 3) register Konami ID AND game ID 4) click on link to activate account 5) play. and i skipped a couple of other parts like the initial installation of MGS4. even with the limited time i've spent with my PS3 i can safely say that i much prefer spending $50 a year to have a competent online service than a free piece of crap (there's hardly ANY content!). ok so you probably think i'm just a pissed off lemming ranting and raving (which isn't ENTIRELY untrue), but I'm still glad that i bought it and would make the same decision again. I don't think PS3 will overtake 360's place in my heart, but it will definitely bring me a lot of excitement with great exclusives like MGS, Resistance, and (hopefully) Killzone 2. (might even give LBP a try).

Yea I still can't figure out why Sony doesn't include an HDMI cable with the box, but you should definitely pick up Little Big Planet.

About the installing: The Playstation 3 is a COMPUTER entertainment system, while the Xbox 360 is a video game entertainment system.

Besides, the 360's going to use optional installs from now on, with the NXE thing. (But why would they do that anyway? I thought people hated those..)

I know it's kinda ridiculous but look at the bright side.

While installing, setup your game theatre like:

  • prepare a most comfortable seat
  • fill a 2 litre bottle with water and put it beside your seat
  • some snack or sandwich
  • read your game guide
  • clean your joystick

None of that bothers me ..

Buy another controller .. then you can charge one while playing .. I also charge mine while watching movies ..

Installs don't bother me either because I can do things in the meantime, like read the manual so I can get the controls down .. get my snack, get a drink .. and get confortable in my seat ..

My HDMI cable cost me like 5 bucks ..

Hold on your upset at the charging with the playstation????? are you serious

360 has batteries...lol... and if you get that charger thingy you cant play the 360 at all cause your battery is charging

unless you get that cord thing.

Then you have to pay for online

Then you have to pay for an expensive microsoft only hard drive if you want to up upgrade

My point i am getting at is that you are just being nickeled and dimed when you get a 360 I feel.

I still will get one eventually, but yea If I was to do everything I did to my PS3 with a 360 I doubt I would even have any games...lol

I do agree though the whole MGSO thing is dumb, but yet I love the game to much both the online and single player are perfect FOR ME!!!!

So I can't say anything bad about it.....

Well... the 2 feet long cable isn't a problem at all because the Sixaxis/Dualshock 3 controller only takes 30 minutes to charge and the battery lasts for 30 hours. so you could leave the controller charging while you go take a crap or while you're eating, the controlled does not need to be plugged in, in order to play, it happens to be wireless

I must concur with you with the MGO thing, i remember the frist time i setup the konami ID and stuff, just the update for MGO took over 1 hour until it installed, but that's konami's fault, not Sony's.

and about the HDMI cable.... i think they should replace the ethernet cable with a HDMI cable, but if they don't its alright because most of the buyers don't own a HDTV, like me, when i first bought my PS3 i didn't have an HDTV, now i do, and i bought a $15 cable along with the TV.

I agree about MGSO, konami was stupid about it. As far as the HDMI i don't think its a big deal I bought a really good gold-plated HDMI for $13. so if you know where to look its not a problem still would like it bundled though. most of the games i have don't have required installs anyway but if they are optional I always do. MGS4 was the only install that bothered me because there were 3 people playing it and we were all on different parts, so there was an install everytime someone played.

As far as paying for online i would never do it, its not worth it for me, I play online occasionally but not enough to warrant the charge.

When I got my 80GB PS3 from Amazon.com I got a free game and a free 9'' HDMI cable. It was a one day deal on Amazon.com. You can buy a 9'' USB extention cable for $10 online and a HDMI cable for $5 online. You can recharge the PS3 controllers with any USB port from any device in the world.

well I agree with you about the hd connector, they should include it , but clearly they want people to buy it separately. as for the mgo thing yeah i agree its alot of stuff to do kinda annoying.., but most games you can play right away. but 1) the controller cord? well you dont have to play when its charging . and its a generic usb, if you have a longer one you ca use that. 2) the installs? most games its optional except mgs4 and a few others. and you can always do other things while they are installing . plus they don't take that long. (btw installing is for loading / more stable game play. its how they made it). 3) online service isn't all bad, content is a bit low , but xbox has been out a year longer.

ya thats right the xbox brand attachment to make a 360 wireless costs 100 bucks, a hard drive for it around 100 bucks also that brings their arcade system from 199 to 399. sooo why do all the xbox fanboys keep running their mouth about the systems price point.

you all mention the $100 wireless adapter, but it's totally unnecessary to play online. i've never even thought of getting it because i don't have wireless so i'm glad they didnt make me pay for it whereas sony thought i'd prefer wifi over component cables

I agree about the HDMI cable, it should come with one in the box. As for the controller charge issue- don't you have more than 1 controller? As for MGO, it's the only game that does that, every other game goes through the PSN. I guess installs are annoying but they rarely take long and improve performance. So why is your impression almost entirely negative? Wasn't there anything about the machine you like?
