Having some troubles setting up the PS3 to an older Sony CRT based HD projection set that supports 720p & 1080i. The Sony TV does not support HDMI so it was necessary to switch to the component video cable (the Sony brand component cable). It would seem that the PS3 (which has not been updated to the 1.3 firmware upgrade as of yet) is defaulting to 1080p when the component cable is in use. The TV is not displaying/not capable of displaying this image. It was necessaryto switch to the standard composite cable to verify the machine was even working. Can someone direct me to a basic setup for the PS3 page? It looks like I will need to update the firmware, using the composite cable to go in & switch the settings to 1080i, replace the composite jack with the component and cross my fingers...will this work? Update to 1.3/switch the settings to 1080i/turn off machine/replace composite cable with component/restart/hurrah hi-def display?

Press and hold the power button until you hear a second beep, com ing out of stand-by mode. i think that's what the issue is. itll be reset to factory default display settings. Or is that only with the v 1.3 firmware update that you mentioned?

i have an issue that i dnt find very funny. when i have to connect my controller to the ps3 with the USB cable... nothing happens. after the lights blink slowly for a while, it doesnt display any light at all, and when i press the ps button, no light turns on. nothing happens at all, not even when the controller is disconected. after that slow blinking time, i dsconnect the controller and press the ps button, and the lights start blinking fast, but then they turn off again. all this happened after i chose to switch back to my default settings and naturally, after choosing that, i have to got through the initial set up, but this is taking way too long, with no results and im really starting to get pissed off! HELP!!!!
