Guys, this is no joke, and I need help.

I was playing Fallout 3 just a few min. ago (I had been playing for like an hour maybe) and sudenly, my PS3 just shut itself down!

I was like "Oh what the hell" (there was no electric shortage or anything) and proceeded to turn it on again (the little red light was on). I tried with the controller but it was no use, so I got up to turn it up on the console. I worked for about 2 seconds then the thing went off completely!

Listen: I'm sorry if this has been posted before, but, as fellow PS3 users, you should know how worried I am. It's a 60GB NTSC model and I love it more than my wanky (well... not exactly, but CLOSE!). Should I send it to repairs? Or is there a way to fix it up? Please guy, I need an answer.

Excuse my english, it's not my native language :(.

The only reason I know that the PS3 turns itself off is if it starts to overheat, but if it did it should have told you, I think. Either way, it's pretty hard to make your PS3 overheat unless it's in a closed area.

Yeah thats what happened to my PS3 except I was on Home. I was on home then it crashed, and the PS3 turned off. So I started it back up then shortly after trying to watch an UnCharted 2 trailer it crashed again, turned off. Then later it happed again and the PS3 would not turn on anymore and it flashed yellow then flashed red. So I would advise you to backup all your PS3 saved data because this may be the first sign of serious hardware or PS3 OS failure.

I was playing fallout 3 last night and I was only playing for about 5 mins ( I was at the end of the game ) And my PS3 reset itself, while I was still playing. This was the second time it did it and only while I was playing Fallout 3, ten minutes later it completly froze. I was able later to play for about two hours with no problems. These games that make your system freeze and lock up can't be good for the systems. I put 15 hours in other game with no probs , the same time I've owned Fallout.

Are you using a HD TV? Cause you will need to set your PS3 from default SD to HD by holding the power button on until u hear a second beep. Then you will see a picture or maybe the otherway around HD > SD. You may have laid your hand on the power button for a while without noticing or somethin while u were playing or perhaps some glitch? Is worth a try if your PS3 physically looks as if it's on.

Yes I do have an HDTV, but like I said, I never touched the back button... the thing just went off when I tried to turn it on using the front touch thing... Either way, it's not coming to life even if I flick the back button back and forth: it's as dead as dan quayle's brain!

That's what i was refering to, if you hold that down before you turn your PS3 on for 2-3 seconds until u hear a second beep you might get a picture. That's what happened to me,i read the instructions an everything and i had to go to the internet to find that out.
