It seems to only happen with COD 4 and 5.Strange, I have had no lag either online or offline, and I use wifi *edit* on COD4, havent played COD5 yet
It even lags in single player esp when alot is going on, on the screen (eg in the online game groundwar) when theres alot of players.
I checked my ps3 round my girlfreinds today who has a pretty decent internet connection, it was still lagging pretty bad to the point it kept freezing at a certain point in single player on cod 5.
It does not happen on games like UT3 or farcry 2 which i find pretty weird
I think its my ps3 or does anyone else have similar issues with the cod games.

bro where do you live? if you're in a country with good connection speeds there should be no problem...there is obviously going to be some slowdown if you're having a yellow or red connection on the large maps, i rarely get it on yellow and it runs real smooth on green...other than that you're probably one of those frame-rate freaks, i used to be one too but i just take a hit of weed in the mornin before i play it, keeps my game better;)
my hubby has cod4 and has been having lots of lag issues. everyone sseems to get shots off before him. sometimes things work fine for a bit...then all the sudden the lagging starts again. i have been researching this and some have said that your ISP needs to be allowing you at least 2-4Mbps upload in order to not have lag. you can go to some bandwidth testing sites and our tests come back at 3.5mbps for uploading. but yet we still have lag issues. we have Optimum Online with Boost option as our ISP. This is suppose to allow us up to 5mbps for uploading for games and such. Unfortunately verizon FIOS is not available in our area yet. FIOS offers up to 20Mbps for uploading.
I would suggest putting a poll up for those with lag isses..... see who their ISP is and what their upload speed is... maybe this game requires more that what they said... just a thought..
