Hey guys, since 2 months, I'm a XBOX 360 owner who also had a PS3 borrowed from his friend for several weeks - and somehow I fell in love with the PS3. And I'm constantly thinking about whether I should've gotten a PS3....but there are some major disadvantages that still hold me back from buying one. Here's my pro / contra list: PS3 Pro: - It's quiet! In comparison to the XBOX 360, this device is so quiet...I love it just because of this fact, already. - The online mode is free. Nice. - The controllers don't need extra batteries. - It's build more stable / worthy than the XBOX. - It looks nice. - I want to love it...it somehow gives me the feeling that Sony have a "good heart". PS3 Contra: - Many games work worse on the PS3 today than on the XBOX. Many frame-rate issues, which aren't that bad on the XBOX. - It's more expensive as the XBOX 360. - There are a lot less used games for the PS3 and these are mostly more expensive than the used ones for the XBOX. - There are less games in general. - The standard controller doesn't vibrate, have to buy a new one for that. So what do you think, guys? I got a XBOX with GTA4 for 270 EUR....and am thinking about selling it and getting a PS3, which costs 420 EUR. But still there are those contra-points which hold me back. What do you think about my arguments and would your advise be? Thanks for your help, guys.anselmoso
Well, i have some points that i need to mention first of all..... you have so many spelling mistakes..: ""hey guys, since two months""?!?!?!, AND WTH IS A CONTRA!!?!? its cons.
Alright anyways aside fromt hat the main question is have you posted in the 360 forum writing the exact same thing? Because if u havent created a thread in the 360 forum and only posted in the ps3 that means somewhere deep inside that mind of yours you are compelled to buy a PS3 and you've come here to post to give your own mind another reason to go out and buy the best next gen console. Fact is your cons (contras...) can all b fixed with time remember that PS3 came a year after the 360 and developers find it easy to continuously work with the same disc (cd's) but with the PS3 its blu-ray so developers have to adapt... i think i know what you want to do: go out and buy a PS3 you wont regret it.

Hi Blaze,
sorry for my English, I'm no native speaker and out of practice;)
I haven't posted the same thing in the 360 forum, why should I? I wanted to ask you guys (PS3 users), cause you probably know my "cons" from personal experience. Especially the framerate-issues (which are caused by the different programming of PS3s-CPUs, which is said to be much harder than programming the XBO).
Many games also aren't released as "classics" for the PS3 and aren't getting cheaper even 1 year after their release. Another con.
I just wanted to have an objective discussion with you guys about my pros and cons.
Yea definitely go for the ps3. I have a 60 gb model (2006) owner. I have loved it ever since. While there are not as many games as the 360, you can only play one at a time right? And, just because they have more games doesn't mean they are better. PS3 games are hard to beat, especially with resistance 2 coming out, metal gear solid 4, and the well underrated uncharted.
Online is free, and should soon be getting some cool features such as trophys and in game xmb.
Honostly, do yourself a favor and get the metal gear solid 4 ps3 bundle, it comes with the dualshock 3 and probably the most desirable game on the market right now.
Trust me, i recently received an xbox 360 elite with halo 3, and it was returned within a week. I used the store credit i got to purchase a new pc.
Good luck on your decision.
dont worry my english isnt good and iam from here. anyways you should get a ps3 with mgs4 the game will blow your mind just make sure you play part2 and 3 at least
Get one its worth it. Once Home comes out it will be like xbox live or better. Also i think you get the dualshock 3 controller with the new 80gbNowak94
yes you should buy a ps3, i own both a 360 and a ps3, there are games on the ps3 you must get like mgs4 and resistance, that and the blu-ray player is the biggest reason why i bought one. although i personally like online on live having free online on ps3 is not bad at all. the biggest thing that makes me mad about the online for ps3 is no in-game messaging with friends and online features are not convenient as xbox live. hopefully it will change!!!
It continues to baffle me as to why someone would come on the PS3 forum and ask if they should buy a PS3. I'm sure every section of the forum gets asked about their respective system, but come on, now...who here is going to say, "hell no! Don't buy a PS3!!"ItsEvolution
I have to agree here. In a perfect world, we would all be nuetral about it, but really, how many of us would (if the situation met this) would say, "no. I made a huge mistake due to lack of (insert reason here)." No one. None the less, I'll try to be neutral about this.
I can see some of the cons (and, since you said that english was your second language I'll assume we don't live in the same place, so I'll trust you on the rest. I could see how used games coudl, possibly, cost more on one system vs another since it's based on price, demand, and stock. In other words, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt)
So, I really enjoy my PS3 for its selection of games. Although the 360 has more, thanks to it's 1 year headstart, if you're starting fresh right now, there should, probably, be enought to keep you pre-occupied for some time. There are a lot of worthwhile titles out already, a few more on the line for the near future. I can't say for sure how much time you spend playing games, but I'm assuming you wouldn't plow through all of them for a some time. Also, the BluRay (assuming you also own an HD TV) is a nice benefit.
The system has also proven reliable. This is not to say that there haven't been some failures, but that is common place with all hardware. Same with cars. It shou;d be understood that no matter how "reliable" system is, there will always be a few lemons. Period. It's pure statistics. It's too much to assume that 100% of a few thousand/million units produced will all have the same level of reliabilty. But Sony has proven their strength in this area by producing a system within reasonable expectations (with a near 2% failure rate. Rather standard within the electronic industry, and also means that of all the systems produced, the chances of one person recieving a bad-out-the-box system is pretty slim).
All that said, it could also be argued that a lot of the great games (such as GTA IV or Assassins Creed) are already multi-plat. So owning both systems may be mute point, especially if your gaming time is already limited. Both systems have a good number of exclusive high quality titles. It just may be that the 360 is enough (although you're missing out on BluRay, in my humble opinion).
I guess the end point is this. I don't know how much time you have to devote to games, but to truly experience any generation of gaming, you need to own more than one system. Rather than trade one in, try to save up and bring a couple of them into your posession. If I had to choose (and guess what? I did!) the PS3 on offer from Sony has my vote for it's extra BluRay capabilities. If you're truly unhappy with the 360 (which I'm assuming you are, since you're considering trading it in) than the PS3 is certainly a great choice. I couldn't be happier with my choice, personally.

Gives you the felling that sony has a good heart? What kind of idea is this....
Sony is in this business to make money, and it just as simple as that. Why did you not write about ps3 comes with bigger hardrives than xbox 360. Where is wi-fi and blu-ray functions are built into every ps3 systems?
Please tell me English is your first language, and l really cannot understand what you mean by ps3 contra. What the hell is that?
Finally, this is not ps3 vs xbox 360 forum. Go to system wars.

That's a little harsh. The TC already said the english was NOT their first language. This may be forum, but that is no excuse to insult them for slight mis-spellings (and before you argue, if you knew what they were trying to say, it counts as a slight mis-spelling as they still got the point across). Believe it or not, english is not the first language of the entire world;)
Your friend let you borrow their PS3 for over a week?? Mann you have some awesome friends
And yeah I agree with many of the things you said, take for example, it looks better. The PS3 looks more sleek and sexy, the X360 looks slow and clunky, believe me, I own a PS3. I used to own a X360....But I got RROD and sold it :? Which takes us back to the reliability......Well lets face it, Microsoft has to wake up, get informed, SOMETHING that'll make their console actually last 1 year upon sale.
