PS3 Malfunction: assistance requested.

ok i was playing Oblivion when all of a sudden the game began to lag and skip severely. Then the system issues two loud beeps and turns off with a flashing red light. i went over to turn the system on; one press got it to turn solid red and the next turned the system on but only for a second until the green light became extremely pale (maybe even yellow its hard to tell) issued two loud beeps and resumed a blinking red light. i'd rather not have to send this thing into Sony so does anyone have any useful information? i've already tried allowing the system to cool down like the troubleshooting tells you when you call Sony.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. My PS3 was just sent out for repairs, and is on its way back from sony. My PS3 just shut off, beeped a couple of times and now wont boot up. Everytime I turn it on it would turn right off after a few seconds. Try holding down power button for 10 seconds to reset system. If not my best advice is to call customer support at sony. It took them literally a total of 1 week to send me a box, send them the system, and now it will be back in my hands 2morrow. I got a launch 60gig, and getting same one back.
