Do you think Sony will ever make a messenger update that allows us to sign into our hotmail/aim/yahho (or whatever everyone uses) account and chat to our friends like MS did with messenger on the 360?

It'd be a nice feature.

No. Simply because of Microsoft running MSN messenger, and YahooIM now working with MSN IM

PS3 already uses the XMPP protocol which googletalk, AIM (is moving to) and others use. Its all in place, but dont expect it to soon if ever.

There are thing such as ebuddy (mentioned above) or meebo for example that could be implimented into the PS3's XMB to allow us messenger capabilities.
