I've stood by the PS3 day in and day out telling gamers who are writing the system off to just be patient and give it a couple of months. It is outselling XBOX360 to this point in the console's life and does have Resistance and Motorstorm, but the majority of people seem to be buying their PS3's for the system's potential, rather than its current offerings. I personally love Resistance and Motorstorm, but I think that it is fair to say most people with a PS3 are waiting for MGS4, FFXIII, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and GTA4. Killzone and Lair are also on the list, but the problem seems to be, for those of you who are writing this system off early, that really none of these games are going to be released in the near future. Lair is the closest and that's May 7th which is a Monday and videogames are released on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so that date is for sure not official. What I think Sony needs to do is stop showing off its potential, like it did at GDC with Home and LittleBigPlanet, and start releasing games to prove what they're hyping up about their system is true.
So the point of all this? I say Sony needs to release Lair a little early. The game looks done from recent gameplay footage released and essentially could be the first breakout hit for the PS3. April doesn't look too good. Enchanted Arms is getting poor reviews early (Reviews) and F.E.A.R is already released on other platforms. If Lair were to be released in April, then the PS3 may finally be able to live-up to its promises and silence its critics. If it is the first breakout Sony hit, which it should be, then in no time at all, June will bring us Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and then soon after that MGS4. But waiting too long would be a mistake by Sony. They need to release a true next-gen game immediately. I love Resistance and Motorstorm and all, but I'm not blind enough to ignore the complaints of people getting bored with just those two games.
