Hey i was just wondering , when your browsing the internet on your ps3 can it get infected by virus's or if you download stuff and what not the same way a computer would?
I was thinking of limewire > music ... etc lol

No, the PS3 can not get a virus.. but if you're looking to download music directly from your PS3 browser, check out beemp3.com

There always a possibilty, but currently no ps3 compatable virus's exist.

Not really, Linux can't get viruses unless you design a virus for a specific machine.
