PS3 NEVER Freezes?

This is my PS3 Slim that Ive had since launch. I was playing the Battlefield Bad Company 2 BETA for a long time and it froze. Restarted the PS3 and played for a long time and it froze again. I remember it froze a while back when I was playing Fight Night Round 4 for a long time. My Fat PS3 also froze once in a while back when I had it and IIRC I was playing for a long time when it froze.

Is it normal for consoles to freeze once in a while after extended use? I know Im not the only one but its frustrating when I see people say theirs has NEVER froze before. Kinda makes me feel like I have a defective PS3. Every gaming console Ive owned froze once in a while. But my gaming PC never does. =\

So just say yes or no and give a brief idea of the factors involved. Honest answers please.

Yes, for me if I play for a really long time it's not uncommon. Using the internet browser is just asking for it to freeze.

I was about to mention the internet browser freezing but I forgot. But yeah it does freeze a lot when Im using the web browser. Only for complex sites with flash and everything.

What model do you have?

I've gotten a few freezes, but nothing major. I just make sure to save often regardless of what game I'm playing. the freezing has happened most often with Puzzle Quest: Galactrix. It happens rarely so it doesn't bother me much.

thats normal frozed alot with me in fifa 09 and some times with fifa 10.

Mine froze today on FIFA 10 going in to the last match of the season on my manager mode.....i was not all that happy.

That was the first time its froze for a few months.

It froze for the first time yesterday playing Oblivion, and now I'm selling it because no PS3 game should freeze IMO, well at least at the rate Oblivion does ( I mean I was playing for like a hour non stop and it froze and I lost my data :cry: )

I have a 160GB and it has froze on me just one time when I was playing NCAA Football 10.

Yah I have the Slim and has frozen a few times. Mostly with the Internet Browsing.

ive had my slim since launch and it has NEVER frozen. (looking for wood to knock on) not sure what a long time is in the gaming world though. i dont really play anything for more than 3 hours at a time. i dont have online. once when quitting a game though the screen just went black and i had to unplug it. thats the only bad experience ive had with my slim since i got it.

Mine froze a couple of days ago during Bad Company 2 Beta, and it has froze many a time during little big planet....

My Slim froze the day I got it while playing inFamous. It hasn't frozen up since that though.

Twice, I think. Once was recent in Uncharted 2. I can't remember when the other was.

I have a fat 80gb PS3 and it has frozen two or threetimes in the 2 years I have had it. I have left the console running for 35+ hours at a time and it has been fine. Two of my freezes were playing Uncharted: Drake's fortune, which I had purchased used from gameplay. Both of the freezes were at the same spot on two different playthroughs, so I am thinking it was more of a disk problem than console freezing. My PS3 is pretty much a tank and I have full confidence in it never freezing.

To be honest, i wonder why the PS3 freezes but my 360 never freeze. i guess maybe i use the ps3 the most.

The only things that have ever "froze" on me were crappy programmed games and the web browser.

Hardly ever does it to me, the only games I've ever had problems with is Fallout 3 and Oblivion.

My PS3 freezes at random. Sometimes I can go weeks without it freezing, then sometimes it could freeze twice in 5 minutes :?

Yup its frozen on me before.
Internet browser is where alot of it happens but its happens to me in gamesonly if i leave the game infor a day or 2 even when its on standby.

It depends on the game. Mine froze two or three times while playing Turok (just in the first half), and once while playing Uncharted. It NEVER froze while playing Motorstorm Pacific Rift, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, or Dead Space. Same with my PS2, a few games seem to have problems, the vast majority do not.

My 4 PS3s only freeze up when the discs get dirty. I clean them and it doesn't freeze until I put another dirty disc in.

Had mine for 2 years.. froze a few times during browser use, which I expect... but never during a game.. and I can't ask for more then that.
