The ps3 is a remarkably quite machine. The fan has 3 or four different speeds. If its hot it will automatically adjust the fan speed, no need to worry about anything.

Well it's good to know it's quiet. My friend brought his 360 to my place the other day, and I was surprised at how noisy it was. I was thinking that being a big machine like the PS3, the PS3 would be similar. But it's nice to know that that is not that case.

yeah, i own both a 360 and PS3, and the PS3 is WAY quieter. Its just a better piece of hardware, and thats fact. If anyone tries to tell you otherwise they are a 360 fanboy, because i own both and have noticed many things on how the PS3 preforms better.

Yea, the PS3 is remarkably quiet. For late night gaming when the girlfriend is asleep- it's a dream come true.

I can always tell when my brother is up, sounds like a harrier jet is taking off from his room when he turns on his 360.

Well if you say that this little siund in the background is normal.... i'm the first one to be happy! It's just that i had another ps3 that i had to take back and i never noticed this sound on the other one... but maybe it's just me.

So true. I mean there's no way u could get away playing with an xbox. I mean not waking her up.

On topic: Of course PS3 makes noise but it's nothing compared to Wii (loading a game, especially a GC game) or an xbox (man that thing is loud)

The noisiest thing in my PS3 is the blu-ray drive. hehe. When that thing gets'a'spinnin', it gets "noisy". No more so than my PC, but its noticeable. *shrug*. Not that I mind.
