ps3 not acknowledging im putting discs in the system Help!!!!

i put in r2 today, and nothing came up, like my ps3 isnt reading the discs at all, i put in metal gear ect. and it still doesnt even say im putting anything in, anyone know if the is a normal problem or how to fix? thanks

that dosent sound good. 2 friends of mine had blu-ray drives go out. Thats what it sounds like to me:(

Will it still play standard DVDs?

Looks like your Blu-ray drive is busted. Sony will fix it for you for $150

Ah man, that sucks. That jsut happened to me about two weeks ago while I was in the middle of playing Valkyria Chronicles. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about it, and the only way you can have it fixed is to send it in to Sony. I'm sending mine to them tomorrow. Hopefully you still have the receipt, becuase I don't and I'm going to have to pay for the repairs.

Same thing happened to me last week. It's becoming much more common, I see 2-3 of these topics per day. The PS3 is not a reliable console, I don't care what anyone says. Anyway, you'll have to send it to Sony for repairs.

yes it will! actually, is that good  or bad?

 

bad, that means your Blu Ray drive is dead, unless you have a warranty you're paying $150 to fix it

my ps3 doesnt read blu-rays immediately but after 10 or 15 min it does, so just try and let it "warm up" first.
