I have a 120GB slim PS3 and when I try playing FF XIII more often then not the PS3 won't recognize the game. If I restart the PS3 or turn it off and on, it eventually reads it, and once I am in the game it has no problems whatsoever. It doesn't do this with any other game. Any idea what the problem is?

If you can, try the disc on another PS3 a few times to see if it is the disc.

The lens may need cleaning. How long have you had your ps3?

I would say it's only about 5 months that I've had it.

If it doesn't do it with any other game, then it's most likely the FFXIII disc that's scratched or dirty or something. Check to see if any scratches, but you might want to get your money back if it's not working properly.

When it does fail, it makes sounds like its trying to read it, and then it makes a sound like its trying to eject the disc, if that is any indication of anything.

Alright, thanks for the suggestions guys. I was thinking it was the disc but everything I was reading online was pointing to the system. I'll try a few things out.

please tell me you figured out a fix. I've been searching forums for a week and this is the first time I've come across the exact problem I had. 2 separate FF discs, neither would load, but everything else works perfectly. Give me hope.

Your disc maybe have some problem, and you can level up your system. Have a good luck, haha.

i am currently suffering the SAME EXACT problem word for word as the OP and the other person that mentioned it.

my SECOND ps3 slim 120GB makes sounds as if its ejecting the disc (but doesnt actually eject it),. and just doesnt read the disc at all. and sometimes it would read all the discs normally, but after i play for like 20 minutes,.. the system freezes (cuz it decides to stop reading the disc again i suppose)

ive even made a youtube video about it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUPbZqb4mM0

i would LOVE to think its just a loose ribbon cable or something i can fix myself :S

if anyone has a solution to this problem (other than sending it to sony or replacing the lens) PLEASE HELP USS
