The reason you're able to get it at 1080p is because the Acer monitor is probably HDCP compliant. Any LCD monitors that are capable of 1080p after 2006 is able to push it to that limit because of not having any HDCP restrictions. My Dell 24" monitor isn't because it was manufactured during 2006 but I can increase it up to 1080i.

You really do. Considering it's a 22inch monitor you're going to be sitting a lot closer than you would if it were a tv. Also it's native res is a lot bigger than 720p so 720 just looks stretched and horrible.

Could you not get 1080p without doing this silly method?

From personal experience, my 24" LCD Monitor which supports HDMI doesnt come close to looking as good as my 46" LCD HDTV. And mine was manufacturered in 2008.

rofl you're so .. well.. I'll keep that word out of the way...

Let me ask.. can you see the difference between 1024x768, and 1600x1200 and 1920x1200.. oh yes, you can.. bloody ... god.. It's an ancient myth the.. "oh, you have to sit so far away depending on the resolution and the screensize" my **** ass.. >_> god.. try it, or at least read it up before you start laughing at people with obviously no reason at all.. fail

I bet you're writing from a computer.. try changing to a lower resolution, and tell me that, there is no difference..

Just found a way to trick my 200$ 22inch acer monitor to be in 1080p (ps3)

I'll explain it step by step but it's pretty simple.

1.Take any cd,dvd,blueray out of the ps3

2. Under settings go into display settings.

3. Put RGB Full Range (HDMI) to limited

4.Go to Video Output Settings --- HDMI ----- Automatic

5. It will automatically choose 1080p

6. Do enter put back RGB Full Range (HDMI) to FULL

Feel free to mail me if you have any question ( Sti_model@hotmail.com )

p.s: You need a HDMI to DVI - 50$ at lasource , and a Stereo 3.5mm Phone Male to 2 RCA Female 5-10$ if you want to have the audio of the ps3 on your computer speakers.

The image is crystal clear, much better than when i put it at 720p

Edit : Did not work for me without doing this trick

Shaun-Matthew

Unless the tv supports 1080p it will not display in true 1080p resolution DUH!!

With that small a screen you won't notice a single difference between the two resolutions. Hate when people see 1080p they automatically think it's better.

The only person here who doesn't consider all the factors is you. You can dream all you want, but it's a proven FACT that intricate details are not as visible on a smaller display and there is no discernable difference between 720p and 1080p on a small screen. PC resolutions have nothing to do with this. I'm talking a true 1080p/24 image not your run of the mill PC resolutions of 1024x768, and 1600x1200 and 1920x1200 at 60/75/80 fields. But a full resolution 1080p/24 image that the PS3 can knock out. The minute details ARE NOT NOTICABLE on a TV screen that small.

It's 22 inches, how far do you think he's going ot be sitting?!?!?!?!

THese things are only true when you sit over 6 feet away from the screen. It's a PC monitor, he's not going to be sitting very far from it is he?!

Like i said, ALL the factors. Idiots.

Poor arguement on your part. Shows you have absolutely no idea of the techinicalities of what you're talking about. As I expected.
