It doesn't matter how good your SDTV is, it won't be as good as an HDTV.
As long as you're not a graphics whore, I don't see any reason on why not.
but can i play ps3 on a 4:3 sd tv?dosochentaydos
Sure, it comes with SD cords, and can put out the SD 480i signal without an issue.
you should get a PS3 either way :P but playing on an HDTV just makes the experience more graphically enjoyable, it would be worth it to upgrade to and HDTV in the future thoughcodalloo
Agreed
Well, I have a 40 inch SDTV and the PS3 look great. Take Uncharted as an example, the game look great on my TV but it looks INCREADIBLE on and HDTV.
At first, I was going to buy an HDTV but now I see I don't need one at the moment. My brother has a HDTV and the games do look Alot better. But, like I stated earlier, you probably don't need one to enjoy a PS3. You just won't be getting the full experience.
I bought my ps3 with an SDTV. But recently I went the cheap route and use a 22" inch Dell Monitor for 1080p and the soundbar. Nice setup for about $300- 350. The monitor was cheaper than smaller HDTVs of the same price. Silverdragon17
I dont want to crap on your parade dude, but im pretty sure the Dell 22' monitors dont do 1080p, otherwise i would have bought one, i had to buy the 24 instead, from the specs ive seen only the 24', 27' and the 30' do 1080p and up resolutions, the highest res the 22 does is 1680x1050.
Unless im mistaken and the newer 22's do 1920x1080 now.
i have an sdtv also, the one major down fall is having trouble reading text. It can really effect game play.legend133
Yeah thats true, its much tougher to see on FPS in SD, its harder to make out the detail farther away, it probably doesnt affect the gameplay much on driving games or fighting games, but anyting that has or requires you to see things far away is tough, after playing vegas in 720p, playing in SD was a nightmare i couldnt even see dudes shooting at me from rooftops anymore.
