Hey I was wondering if it was alright to put some cloth over your ps3 when it's on standby mode to prevent the sun from touching it.
Is it alright or not? Thanks for yout help :)

It won't be generating too much heat on standby if at all. I'd make sure whatever you put on it breathes just for good measure.. and make sure it isn't black.
If you wanna be super safe just keep it away from the fan system, it really won't make too much difference.. having it in the sun is only really bad if you have poor ventalation and it's seriously hot and you've been playing the ps3 for awhile. I haven't heard of too many ps3's overheating..
Don't worry it's not a 360.
I don't think he is worried about heat since it is on standby. I think he is worried about damage from the sun. There will be no problem if the PS3 is on standby as it doesn't generate any real heat at all.
Just make sure your cat or kid isn't gonna accidentally press the PS button on your controller and turn it on while you are sleeping. But even that probably wouldn't generate enough heat to kill it.
Good advice in here, but I must ask the question... Why are you even concerned about this? DIRECT sunlight is an issue for devices, but sunlight that creeps in through your window isn't really a big issue. I can understand if you don't have any curtains or blinds in your window, so if that's the case, good thinking. But just some little sunlight in general is not going to kill the thing. So, just because I'm curious, where do you have your PS3, and why has sunlight concerned you?RotaryRX7Obviously, his PS3 is on the surface of the sun. Duh.
