I heard all the games are destined to be played on widescreen tv. I do have a widescreen tv but i notice that the movies i play on it have a couple of black strips , one on the top and one down. So i was wondering if i play my ps3 would it have the black strips or would it fit my tv. ?

Those black strips have nothing do with your tv or ps3. It is the aspect ratio that they are filmed in that gives you the black strips. Some movie are done in a full wide screen but most dvds are filmed in anamorphic widescreen which gives you more of the picture at the cost of those strips

Widescreen TVs use the aspect ratio of 1.78:1 (as opposed to "square" which is 1.33:1). Widescreen TVs will show black bars for any media with a ration greater than 1.85:1. This means both 1.78 and 1.85 will fill your screen, 1.66:1 and 1:33:1 will put black bars on the left and right, 2.35:1 and 2:40:1 will put bars on the top and bottom. When you look at the back of your DVD box it will normally indicate what aspect ratio the film was recorded in.

As far as games, the only non 1:78:1 one I can even think of was Armed & Dangerous for the original Xbox which ran at 2:40:1 for some odd reason. Every game on the PS3 that I have fills the screen fully, and you should expect that to be true for all future games (unless someone gets crazy like the one game I mentioned).

I never noticed any black strips on my stuff. Now if you were playing in 4:3, there are some games that have the bars on the top and bottom.
