I've been a happy 360 gamer for awhile now (which kind of surprised me because I loved my PS2 more than my XBox last generation).

I might be getting a better-paying job soon, the cost of the console has dropped, and theres actually a handful of exclusives I'm interested in playing on the PS3, so there's a chance I'll be picking one up in the next couple of months.

However, I was curious what the online community was like for the Playstion, since it's probably my favorite thing about my XBox. I'm not asking which one is better; I just to know basic stuff, like how strong is the community, is it easy to find people to play with, are there any really strong online multiplayer games, etc.

Well...theres a social gathering place (full of pervs ofc like any other place of social gathering in the internet) called "playstation home" where you create an avatar and go around different places talking to other people and playing minigames and stuff (sort of habbo or the sims just that with real people) that comes with the playstation, the community itself, well, the online is strong and dont believe the crap that the xbox players say about the psn crashing every 5 seconds, it hardly goes out for one minute like once every 3 months. instead of "points" the "gamer profile" is messured by % and after you reached 100% you "level up" and start from 0% again but in a higher level (I like that one because in my opinion its better to say "im level 5 with 70%" than saying "I have 130135926 points) you "level up" your profile by winning trophys (the ps3 "achievements", most of the games have trophy support but not all) so yeah, its a cool community, and some great features will be added soon, like voice chat =D and maybe cross party invitations. its not as cool as xbox live, but its way better than wiiconnect24 (although taht is not much of an achievement...)

Its okay I guess, no one really buys/uses mic's for the PS3 so it can be boring in some games since you will be all alone.

I once had a 360 myself and I can easily say that so far from what ive seen the PS3's online community is much more mature, I mean sure I have came across a few immature 12 year olds bashing the 360 or Wii over nothing and ofcourse if you go on PShome you will find alot of pathetic people"horn doging?" over female avatars, but thats about it :P

So I hope you enjoy your PS3 8)

PSN is basically XBL.

Both have their share of asshats and immature children, but from what I've heard, PS3 has a bit less since the console's price has always been so high and so the little children went with the 360.

With the new price cut, that's looking to change.

Each of the new games has a fairly strong community and it isn't hard at all to find anyone to play with.

All in all, the PSN community is, for the most part, 'grown up.' The only real problem is that not enough people use mics, or even have on, since the PS3 didn't come bundled with it like the 360.

well, to put it quite simply. if there is an online game for 360 and PS3. 100% of the time i get it for 360. that being said. KZ, resistance 2 and uncharted 2 are all VERY good online titles.
