apartments usually have wireless net these days. i only asked cause if you were in an apartment you'd have to ask your admin for the WEP key.

so i assume you still dont have it working? you have a laptop and i assume you have that connected to the net

-type ip into web browser

-ensure proper ports are open, ibelieve they're 80, 443...and i cant remember the last one but they're generally already open or in use

-write down your SSID and WEP key

-manually enter your SSID and WEP, everything else should work

-heres a video just in case: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC7aPylbI3M

-you also want to be on NAT type 2 video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hidZdIfoYPI&feature=related

WEP is the encryption on your internet connection. it keep other people from parking outside your house or your neighbors from stealing your internet and slowing you down. its very easy to set up. post the model # of your router and ill find you step by step insrtucions on how to set one up.

note:this may mean that you'll have to update the connection settings in your laptop as well.

he'll still need his WEP key in order for it to work. otherwise the checks will fail and he wont be connected.

Logon to your routers settings. normally by opening the following web page http://192.168.1.1
  1. Now click on the "wireless" tab
  2. Click on the "Wireless Security" sub tab
  3. In "security mode" select "WEP"
  4. Leave the "default transmit key" as it is
  5. Change "WEP Encyrption" to "128 bit"
  6. In the "Passphrase" enter anything you want. Make it about 8 characters long
  7. Press "Generate" and you will see Key 1, 2, 3 and 4 now have 26 Digits in each. Congratulations you have now secured your router and gernated your WEP key.
  8. Now you have 4 keys, you only need one to get the PSP online. But which one??? Easy. Above where, it says "Default Transmit key" and a number, 1-4. The number that selected is the Key you need to use i.e if 1 is selected use the letters in Key 1.

quick tutorial ono how to setup a wep key on your linksys router. if you dont know your original password and yuo follow these steps, you will HAVE to reset the connection setting for your laptop or any other wireless devices conntecting to your network. make sure to write down that key or better yet print all your settings and store them somewhere you'll remember. under the computer, with your computer manual, under the printer are easy to remember places for me.

also this setup seems weird as my router only has 1 26 digit password and not 4 smaller keys but oh well.

i was already trying to get into the scene while i still owned a ps2 so it wasn't that bad for me, plus i used a wired connection on my ps3. but i had to set up 2 other wireless networks for my buddies parents, which they were happy about. having someone come and do it cant get pricey for the few mins of work it only takes.

Becuase your most likely downloading something that cant be performed in the background. Performing in background means the game or what ever your downloading downloads while your doing something else. So you cant do anything else but wait for what your downloading to download.

That's not what I'm talking about. The game was updating, and it said that. It wouldn't work. =/ MGO is working with the download though.
