i want to get a ps3 but before i do i need to know what the online service is like. Is it even close to XBOX live? or is the ps3 online completely rotten? also how are the payment methods for it? only credit card? or can i buy a prepaid year on like a card?
amazing thing is ps3 online is free....plus you don't gotta buy and wireless adapters,it has built in wifi,all you need is a router :) ps3 online is good...not as good as live but hey its free,but still good.

XBOX LIVE is better... is better onganized than PSN, and has more bunch of stuff. you cant surf the net, is not free, not wireless (separate for $99)
when you play online games, they feel the same... the only difference in my opinion would be that not all PS3 users talk because many do nothave microphones... and the Xbox communitygot microphones included
It's good. It's 100% free, and most of the games worth playing online are totally lag-free. Resistance, Motorstorm, Warhawk, Call of Duty 4 = all completely free of lag.
Warhawk has dedicated servers, no host advantage there.
It isn't as full-featured as the XBL service, but if you just want to get into games with other people and shoot them, PSN is just fine. If no Messenger etc functionality doesn't bother you, it will be just fine.
Here are the benefits over Live. It's free, it's lag free and games support more players. Resistance can do up to 40 players, Warhawk can do up to 32 players. The highest I've seen on X360 is 16 players. Also I'm really looking forward to Home.
online is good, free,quick, no lag, surf the net, friends system is good. PS store is good. The online is fine, the ps3's exclusives can hold bigger matches than 360 exclusives. more games have dedicated servers and its LAG FREE. I like the PSN. :D

hehe, I wish more of the xbox players would discover "shutting up".. Half the Halo matches I played at my buddies place we had to mute or throw off the annoying voices through the earpiece... :(
Free, and runs faster as of now. So Yea pretty good. Once more get on thow will see how that holds. But as of now most games play like they do offline. And live is just something people heard Morgan webb or someone praise 4 years ago, and is more so a old great thing, than what it is now.
I own all three. I just got my PS3 two weeks ago. I have spent alot of time in Warhawk, and I have to say that its pretty incredible. I also like the fact I can download old playstation games. The fact thats its free is a huge plus. I noticed that there is no lag on any online game I have played. Also I noticed there were no cheaters. I always had a problem with cheaters on Live. I would reccomend you pick up a PS3 and download Warhawk ( $39.99 Download ). IMO I think the PS3 is set up for hardcore gamers, Live is a playtoy.

I have both consoles. PS3 online is not as good as XBL, but its free. Personally, I like XBL a lot better because of their huge demo list lol. But damn it takes hours to get a demo downloaded.
