Also, try to keep it in open spaces so air can leave and dont let the sunlight hit it through any windows.

if the vents are cloged with dust that is prob the problem. if not and if you have it in a well vented space then its prob a problem hardwear wise. sometimes the thermal paste can get cracked and dryed out. if during yopur systems assembly there was not enough thermal paste added then this will cuase it to happen sooner. There may even be a fan problem. when it overheats does the fans sound realy loud? like almost air dryer loud? Check the vents, Vac them out good and again make sure its got good air space around the system. if you stll have issues only thing to do is call sony.

If you have a 60g...then..it's because you have a 60g. When it dies get one of the newer models that were built better.

I have a Day 1 60GB and have no experience in what you're talking about.

Maybe we should clarify "overheating". Actual overheating leads to unexpected shutdown. A loud fan doesn't constitute overheating.

If you take care of a 60gig it should last forever unless you get the YLOD.

Actually it does. Take a moment to think, it's why you have a brain.

Ironically, neither does your post. Anyways...I agree with emitsu. We should clarify what we're talking about here people... TRUE overheating results in the PS3 indicating a red flashing light and an automatic shutdown. A loud fan is a reasonable assumption that a higher than normal temp is occurring, but not necessarily severe heat issues (i.e. "overheating"). TC, and others that have claimed to have this issue, please clarify.
