ok, to answer you in a more serious manner, there was a RUMOR, that maybe, possibly, but not very likely, the price will be dropped maybe somewhere around 50 buck this spring. once again that's rumor, and for the record, i don't believe it.

I hope so. I'm getting a PS3 as soon as i have money. I had to sell my ps3 i got for Christmas but i'm dying to get another one. Hopefully by the time i have the money there's going to be a price drop.

i would recommend the 80gig with the BC if those are still around. never know when you may want that function. if you don't care about that, i'm pretty sure there are good bundle sets with the 160gig.
On the one hand, Sony would like us to believe that they can't afford to cut the price ont he ps3 anymore, given the insane amount of tech in the system. On the other hand, nobody in this current state of affairs or economy can afford a $400 console; much less a $400 console that has had features stripped from it compared to its competition.

Sony got rid of all BC capable models from the market. Meaning the only way to get a BC console is to get bent over and sodomized on eBay for a "good one".
Well Sony's still losing about $50 per a console. They even said that they need to suffer for a bit by not cutting the price anytime soon. They said that the RSX graphics chip has gone to 65nm, so that reduced costs a lot, and they said that the Cell will be down to 45nm in the middle of this year. Since that will reduce costs even more, that's when the PS3 will get a $50 price cut, at E3, if at all. That'll probably be one of their "big" announcements. But disregard any news of the PS3 hitting $300 anytime soon. Sony said they want to turn a profit as soon as possible because of how bad they did last year, and that won't happen anytime soon if they drop the price again.

Good thing I already have my 60GB model from launch .. ;)
o well i dont need BC but it seems like they r kicking themselves in the balls right now so im going to try and get 1 asap before they start down gradeing everything
