So I'm thinking of picking up a PS3 pretty soon and I was debating on waiting until September to pull the trigger. My main question is this: do you think Sony'll drop the price of the current 40GB version once the new 80GB PS3 comes out?

I have no need for the card readers, additional USB ports, DualShock, or backwards compatibility as I don't currently own any video games. I'm also not a fan of the Metal Gear Solid games (don't have the attention span for stealth games) so the MGS bundle isn't the most reasonable way for me to go either. If I could pick up a 40GB for $350 or less once the 80GB PS3 comes out, that'd be sweet. What do you guys think?

i say you should just wait for the new and cheaper 80 GB to come out, and see if the 40 GB drops in price. if they dont, then at least you can buy the 80 GB for less money. :P

That's exactly what I'm thinking of doing as long as people think the 40GB PS3's price will drop (kinda like the way the 20GB XBox 360's price dropped now that the 60GB version is out).
