Hey im going to australia this week and was wondering if i bought a game out there (if it works out cheaper that is, which i dout it will) will it work here in the UK in terms of being online? I know PS3 are region free but if i buy for instance Res 2 there could i play it online on european servers and if there is content realsed in the european store will it work with the game? thanks

I know that most DLC is not region free so you prolly cant use the UK PSN store for dlc. I thought resistance1 had global servers so region didn't matter but i have no idea about R2

I have a uk game. And im playing it on my usa system, with out anyproblem. And i have also played it online just fine.

You should if they're cheaper. The PS3 is definitely region free, i don't know what those guys above you are talking about.

I dont think it's completely region-free. I asked the staff at computer exchange and they said that it depends on the developer if they want to region-lock the game or not.

That is a very good point, even with DVDs. Yes, DVD players (and the PS2/3) have region encoding in their players, but it is up to the publishers to abide by them. They can just as well release Region 0 discs...I am not sure if the law says they have to put a region down. (I have seen Region 0 discs before.) Of course, DVD have the other PAL/NTSC problem...

ok thanks, im just worried that i'll buy something like res 2 or world at war over there and come back and there might be some dlc in the european store and find out i cant download it or its not compatible, or playing online wont work. Does anyone have any experience with something like this?
