Recently it's been beneficial to me (space-wise) to have my PS3 in the vertical position. Any added risks having it sit this way? Anyone know?

The PS3 should be fine in the vertical position, unlike the 360 which will tear your games to shreds in the blink of an eye in the vertical position. Just make sure that you hold the eject button before the entire system boots up, so it will clean out any dust in the disc slot. Dust seems to collect a bit more when the system is upright. But yes, you are cool to keep it up vertically.

Although the fan test can possibley damage a Ps3 so do so at your own risk.

And yes having it vertical is perfectly safe as long as you dont hit it over :P

No, it's fine. Just don't move your system while it's reading a disk though.

Wow, thanks for that. I have a PS3, 360, and Wii.I also work at Gamecrazy, and I can't put a number on how many discs I 've had to buff to get that God forsaken ring that the 360 puts on it's discs. So yes, put it vertical, and it will eventually make a ring about half an inch from the edge and all the way around. Wouldn't it be nice if you knew what you were talking about instead of swinging FANBOY accusations at people.

I've had my PS3 vertical for months now and it has never had a single problem with anything. And I never turn my PS3 off, instead I let the system fold while it's not in use.

You seem awfully defensive. I had a 360 in the verticle position for months when I first got mine.

But yeah, the PS3 should be fine. You can even swivel the PS logo round to match the upright position.
