PS3 Sales Booming!

ok...so yesterday i was at Target by my house and noticed they didn't have any PS3 boxes. I asked the kid (who usuallys isn't very helpful at all) and he said they were sold out. Same at Walmart by my school (USC).

then i see this online:

PS3 sales are booming. It's sold out on Amazon as well. and read the last part of the article. it's also helping blu-ray sales boom. it's a good time to own a PS3. hopefully i can soon be owning all these new PS3 owners on Madden, Rainbow 6 and Unreat Tournament! :lol:

This is good news. If only I could afford a PS3 right now. I'm too busy funding my custom drum kit...zenerik

That is nice to see. Hopefully it lasts. I am probably waiting until Warhwak releases to get mine. That gives me about a month or so to get my funds in order.

USC like So Cal? The Best Buys near me, as well as Circuit City, doesn't have them either (South Bay area) and usually there is a pyramid of PS3s sitting there in front of the kiosk. negtegra

Sony are insane if they keep the new 80GB model at $600. They should drop Motor Storm from the deal. On the bright side though, at least this temporary cut will shift the millions of unsold 60GB stock.

When it breaks i'll just take it back and get it replaced. No biggie.

I certainly don't want to derail the thread, but I wanted to comment on the faulty trash that is the 360. I own both consoles, own nearly all my games for the 360...but it is a piece of junk. Millions of consoles failing...customer support who you can barely understand, and a turn around time of 4-6 weeks now.

Why do you think Microsoft extended their warranties to three years...because people would give up on the 360 after having to have it repaired four times and starting to pay for it after a year. Remember, the warranty was originally 90 days...

The PS3 on the other hand is well made, solid construction and no reports of shody design leading to failures. However, the PS3 doesn't have the games yet...but it looks like they are coming. Combine that with a lower price, a better high def format (Blu-ray), and you get a much better selling machine.

I live in los angeles and work at a circuit city and I can say that they are selling very fast. We sell about 6-7 a day now. After seeing this I had to get mine b4 it was too late.Tha_lazyboi

Sorry didn't read other posts...there is a USC, University of Southern Carolina as well so I was asking to clarify. Good to see PS3s being sold out though.

When the 60gb ps3s stock run out they will most likely drop the 80gb ps3 down to 499 and get ride of motorstorm.

This proves that the biggest issue with the poor sales was price. Thequestion is, what will the sales be like when the price goes back up to $600? Lets hope the game selection improves and takes over.Cobalt75

Do you really think Sony will keep it at 600$? I'm willing to be Sony will announce a non-bundled version of the 80gb around the same time the 60gb models are sold out..

It'll be interesting to see if this sales spike can keep on going or if it's going to burn out. The problem with the PS3 is that the games are still kinda lacking, but if the games come before the effect of the price drop occurs, then the PS3 will sell like crazy.osirisomeomi

Lacking games? Where have you've been? There's Resistance, Motorstorm, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Rainbow Six Vegas, The Darkness, Tekken DR, Calling All Cars, Super Stardust HD, and Virtual fighter 5. You call that lacking games? I've never seen other consoles has that many good games within 6 Months.
