Apparently Sony's Gamer's Day had a strong effect on consumer interest in PlayStation 3. After the wave of media and impressions about titles like Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Heavenly Sword , rejoiced Brits rushed off to Amazon UK to purchase their very own PlayStation 3.
The site listed the PlayStation 3 as the most sought after item right after Gamer's Day. At that time, Nintendo's "black" DS Lite took the #5 spot, Xbox 360's premium system took the #6 spot, and Nintendo's Wii ran up the pack at #8.
Now, two days later, PlayStation 3 is still enjoying boosted sales at the #4 spot. The next step is for Sony to release some of these heavy hitters to seriously raise some interest in their high-end console.
Too bad sales of the ps3 continue to move down on the US amazon website.... Hopefully things will turn around soon. But I have doubts that Amazon is a true indication of retail sales anyway.
I don't know if PS3 sales have exploded since Gamer's Day, but I do know that PS3 owners like myself feel a whole lot better about their investment. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune looks like an absolutely awesome game that could very well compete with other Game of the Year contenders. The PS3 has some seriously good games coming out soon. I think that when those games are released you will see sales of the PS3 skyrocket for sure. Either way, Gamer's Day was a breath of fresh air and positive news for PS3 owners and prospective owners.
People are just waiting for the holiday season. I bet we'll see a drastic climb in PS3 sales in the US during the holidays especially with all the nice titles and software being released.
PS3 #1 on Amazon means the traffic is high on the PS3 page or is it really how much sales? I think people in the U.S. are pretty clueless about what happened at gamers day. I've asked about 6 close buddies on Resistance about if they saw some of the games in Gamers day like Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, and Ratchet and none of them new what I was talking about.Â
Nice Nemesis avatar notchewable. It looks to me PS3 hasn't even started yet, people are still hooked to PS2, its still getting its games. Look back at the tremondously awesome library of great AA and AAA titles on the PS2, chances are you've missed nearly 50% of them. That's what I did, and right now, after purchasing my PS3, I'm only using it to run Folding@Home, while I keep my gaming needs full satisfied with the big hits I missed out on the PS2 since the last couple or so years. Think I'll be playing my PS3 agai nby the time it MGS4 comes out.

Don't worry about it. I have a European PS3 and its backwards compatibility is great. I can play all my PS1 and PS2 games, and they even work better than they do on PS2, 'cause the emulation process is taking advantage of the powerful PS3 hardware. Once the American PS3s lose their Emotion Engine chip, PS3 emulated backwards compatibility will be 100% or near 100% anyway, since it's being improved for every update.
I will get one in October... Need HDTV at end of june... But my pal phoned yesterday saying his pal wanted to buy some of my 360 games...(you know what happend)  So thats like 2 controllers. memory card and 11 games Which will go to the tv. Then i will be able to get PS3 :)       so i will let him have some since my other pal whos launch 360 still works doesnt want them anymore... I think Xbox live Does it... Its after the updates
IF Sony drops the price of the PS3 by $100$, which seems likely because of the removal of the Emotion Engine for software emulation, Blu-Ray costing less to produce, new 65nm Cell Processors cost less to produce and the removal of the 20BG SKU in NA, The PS3 will do great especially because of all the games coming out this year and the PS Eye and the innovative games like PAIN, LBP and Eye of Judgement you can expect huge sales this holiday season.
