ps3 scaling issues?

hi ppl,

 i have a 32" 1080i hdtv and i wanna buy a ps3 soon but i'm having second thoughts...why?..........because my friend told me the ps3 downscales games to 480p? if u dont have a 1080p compatible tv..:?.......is this all true?? plz help explain the scaling stuff cuz i have no idea...thanx in advance

Does your TV supports 720p? If it does, then you are fine. If it only supports 1080i, a couple games will get scaled down to 480p

I have a 32 inch Sony Bravia LCD TV and it actually does a great job of upscaling DVD's/former PS games. After the last firmware update the picture is as good or better than any HD video.

could u guys explain the different scales..like which is which....? e.g 1080p= 1920x1080.......1080i = ?......720p= ?

If it's a big tube TV, it will be 1080i native and unable to support 720p (or so I believe).

You're fine. That TV supports 720p, so the games will be at that resolution.
