Sorry buddy but Best Buy lied too you, if you want too play HD games you need a HDMI/Component cable. If you plug in the stock AV cables you will only SDTV. So buy a HDMI or componet cable(I would go with HDMI less cables) and plug it up, now after you hook it up hold the PS3 power button for about 5 seconds and you should hear 2 or 3 beeps. When you hear that the console is resetting the video settings, after that it will say "The PS3 has detected an HDMI cable, would you like too output video and sound from this device?" click yes and well it should come up and ask you what resolution you want put it at 1080p and there you go.theMarshell
So why does my 360 appear to be working fine on High-Def 1080P? Are my eyes just deceiving me or is the cable only needed for the PS3?

You won't get 1080p through component anyway, so HDMI/HDMI-DVI are his only options.
TC, what have you used to hook your 360 up?

Nothing special. I just hooked up my 360 to the HDTV and went to Display Settings and selected 1080P as my output and it switched to a clearer screen from what I had. I have no idea if it's in 1080P right now because I don't know how to tell but it does look much better.

Hmm. If you used the component cables that came with it then you're probably getting 720p. As far as I'm aware, the 360 only upscales through HDMI and VGA. Maybe your TV is doing the upscaling for you.
if your using A/V cables, and have your 360 settings on 1080p, i dont believe its 1080p.... youve gotta have a HDMI cable connected for 1080p, i believe.Psmol200
Yeah I will get one tomorrow seeing as how no stores are open today.

probably cause you're 360 came with component cables? plus the 360 isnt picky it wont downgrade the res or anything. u can put the 1080p res on a 1080i tv and it wont downgrade it. like i said, u probably have component cables for your 360?Please Log In to post.
