I got this new PS3 slim after my old 60GB one got the YLoD less than a month ago. For 2 or 3 weeks all I've been playing is Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition. I dunno why but the game freezes and the whole PS3 freezes (the only solution to fix it is to hold down the power button to turn it off etc.) almost everyday twice. I know freezing isn't always serious as I had occasional freezes on my old PS3, but this is getting way out of hand (especially that I need 2 more trophies to be done with this game).

As I mentioned, the PS3 was brand new when I purchased it, it's less than a month old and I barely have anything on it (few saves and installations only). Any idea why this happening and how to fix it?

Thanks.

it could just be your game. try playing another game and see if you get the same results. i don't remember having any freezes on DAO though. make sure you don't have the ps3 running boxed-in where it overheats or something

Might not be the game. Mine freezes every second or third time I use it! It's frozen during all of my games (Makes it sound like I've more than two! Haha) but mainly using the browser. Also happened during videos and music! It's kinda rediculous! 320GB slim, up to date!

You know it's funny you asked this cause a buddy from work had this same problem when he bought a brand new 160GB Gran Turismo 5 bundle from Best Buy a few months back. It kept freezing everytime he played GT5 but worked fine on other games. He eventually got fed up with it and returned it for a new one and had no problems with the 2nd one. It could just be a bad system or maybe re-install the game

My slims froze alot but in fairness ive played alot of new vegas so im sure that is more the issue, but it has froze a more times than id like playing other things. Ive even a few times after it froze and i go to reset it, it beeps like it resets but it didnt shut off i had to literally unplug it to turn it off. Hitting the button again did nothing. I personally hate the slims and think they are garbage compared to fats.

I played DA: Origins UE on my PS3 slim. No freezes no crashes but a little framerate dips.

Heck, i finished it 3 times without crashing once. *knocks on wood*

Check the disc for scratches

Uninstall/install game data(not saved data)

Make sure your PS3 is well ventilated 6" away from a wall

Call Sony

My 40gb Fat and 120gb Slim always froze. It wasnt twice everyday but I never played daily. It would freeze once in a while.

This. Don't forget to:

- Back up your save files and sync trophies.

- Try another game to see if the same thing happen.

Thanks guys but I made this topic 6 months ago. Yeah it was just the game, I got the trophies and changed the game and the PS3 hasn't crashed since then :)

i've heard this happens a lot with the slim models.. i've had my old *fat* model ps3 since day 1 and the only game its ever froze on is bioshock *which i've heard is very common* i was actually planning on getting a slim model till one of my friends got one and ended up returning it after it froze on every game he tried to play.. this is obviously a serious issue with sony, and they should recall these ps3's till they can fix this problem..
