PS3 slim ?

Hey everybody, I'v been wanting to buy a ps3 so badly for so long but have been holding out for a release of a possible ps3 slim. Now I have read rumours saying there is going to be one and hopefully very soon but Iv also read that Sony have said that there will be NO ps3 slim.

Has anybody got any inside knowledge or reliable information concerning ps3 slim, all help much appreciated !

not your fault any more than it's anyone else's. we just need an official thread is all.

I doubt there Will be Ps3 Slim Because it so much hardware only if they take some features out

Just have to wait till they find an easier way to shrink the hardware. At the moment, it's not that bad of size for everything it is. But hardware always gets smaller eventually. Just give it four or five years. But even then, it won't be all that slim. Just smaller.

Well no one knows, however I'm not understanding the logic behind the thought of a slim being impossible due to the hardware. Ever seen a laptop? Really doesn't have less hardware than a PC and probibly more than a PS3. Using chips which consume less power, heat, etc. If the slim is real it's not going to be any less of a console than the PS3's out now.

As i've already said in another one of these threads.. the ps3 is as slim as it's going to get. It needs the required space it takes up already making it uneccissary for a ps3 slim.

What about the area to the left/below the disc drive? That was intended for the card readers, which are no longer there. And by now it must be possible to shrink down many of the chips. More efficient parts also reduces the demand on the cooling systems and power supply. The latter of which could also be made external, similar to what they did with the PS2 slim. Finally they could switch to a 1.8" Hard Drive.
