has anyone bought a ps3 slim and have the yellow light of death yet or is the percentage of failure really low with this new system? I am planning on buying it since my old ps3 has a yellow light and a guy looked at it and told me the mother board is **** and sony wont even repair that. it would need to be replaced.

So before i go buy a ps3 slim and have it **** up on me like the other one did, i was just wondering what the failure rate is.

Did Sony actually told you they won't repair it or was it the guy you took it to that told you that?

failure rate was very small in the normal system, so i assume they will be just as low with the slim. Also, Sony will fix that ps3, dont listen to some idiot.

The Slim has just been released. It's way too premature to have valid statistics on its failure rate.

I bought my slim a month ago (not even), and every new system comes with a 1 year internal damage warranty from Sony. Any data available is for failure right out of the box and Sony has agreed to fix that at no charge. Plus most game stores have at least a 30 day warranty ...

It came out 5 days ago.

Seriously, to have a 5 day old console fail on you... you must be trying really, really hard to waste your money.

So i juts bought a ps3 slim yesterday along with a new tv. I do notice that the only vents is in the rear of the system where most of the heat is. It does get quite warm. The best buy lady says since its a new system that there is problems with it which made my mom force me to buy the 3 year warranty (19 and i take orders from my mom, but listen... she told the best buy lady to drop 20 bucks off the tv and the ps3 so we ended up saving 40 bucks plus a 3 year warranty on the ps3). Has anyone had any difficulties with their ps3 slim now that its been out for a month? Doesnt have to be yellow light just general problems.

I would hope that it has a failure rate of Zero, but that will never happen. I did have a slight issue of it feezing up when I tried to Automatically scan for wireless networks and had to put it in manually, but I have not heard of anyone else having this problem.

Let me just say that since I bought my PS3 Slim... it makes this really loud clicking noise every thirty minutes or so and its getting annoying... I think im gonna try to place it vertically and maybe that'll solve the prob. but seriously what could be moving around so much so that its actually making that much noise, it kinda sounds like if you huge tv is contracting or something once in a while and makes that noise... has anybody else have this prob.? thanks...

sony wont fix it because since you looked at the motherboard(which requires you take that sticker off) all warranties are void. dont listen to idiots

Clicking or cracking? If it's cracking you hear, don't worry it's normal, it's just the console contracting. My does it all the time.

PS3 failure rate is pretty low in general, not as low as Wii, but alot lower than XBOX 360.

I have to say when I first started playing my 120GB slim it gets really hot after gaming for just a few hours but now it don't get as hot for some reason?

I brought mine around 10/2X/2009 and not a single problem except when that time I exit out of a loading game it restarted.(I think this is normal)

i got a ps3 this october for my birthday yes it was the ps3 slim 160gb i also have a xbox 360 one of the older ones i got about a year and a month or 2 before i got my ps3. my 360 has already broke once bout like 11 months before my warranty expired my disc drive was screwed up no Red Ring i think its cuz my mw2 disc was scratched up and i forced the thing to read it other than that my 360 has never broke. so far my ps3 slim has also never broke now i've had the thing for a few months now and i have noticed the top gets really hot after awhile but i think its because i havent really cleaned my vents out in awhile and since i cleaned it out it hasn't gotten that hot since. if your wondering if you should go to ps3 from xbox or xbox to ps3 ill tell you what the pros and cons of ps3 are. Pros: Slims seem very reliable Pros: Free Internet Access Pros: Seems to have nicer online community Pros: Newest one has a 3d player in it and all have blu-ray in it Pros: Can browse the web Cons: You get what you pay for with the internet (Its sometimes good, othertimes awful) Cons: In my opinion doesn't have as fun games as 360 Cons: If your a call of duty player 90% of the games will be hacked. good for some people bad for others(me) Now here are the pros/cons of 360 Pros: good internet connection Pros: People still hack of course but you wont get in lobbys as easy. Pros: better games example Halo Pros: majority of your friends will have a 360(atleast in my area) Pros: Cheaper then Ps3 Cons: They break Cons: Have to pay for internet access Cons:You will meet some little **** on live who cant watch there mouth or they basically just suck Cons: No browsing of internet Cons: No blu-ray/3dplayer Hope this helped with your decision i both systems are pretty sweet

I don't think the failure rate is anywhere near as big for ps3 slim as the FAT PS3s impending doom.

People like to think that but it's quite obvious the YLOD is hitting people hard on most FAT PS3s. It's unavoidable. The common cause of the YLOD will happen to all FAT PS3s eventually. I guarantee it.
