Hello to the members of Ps3 forum, i just got my new 250gb ps3 slim, and the thing is...it's heating up faster then my older xbox :-/, my friend's ps3 slim stayed for 3 days and nothing happend to it, same with my other firends, am going to give it back to the store hopeing he would replace it or explane what to do, can someone tell me if this is normal or not, andthe ps3 is 220v, i hocked it up to 110 and it stayed hot, i call the store and he said it's both, so i hocked it up to 220 and the same thing happned....

If this is the wrong section for thes kind of threads, please excuse me...as you can see am new here.

I can't exactly answer your question, as I have an older model. But what I can tell you is, if you still have the option of replacing it at the store and you feel there if a defect with your PS3, do not hesitate to do so.

PS3 also comes with a 1-year warranty from Sony, so if the store gives you trouble, give Sony a call.

It's kind of revelant. Summer = Hot = Overall Temperature of the room is hotter = easier for the PS3 to get hotter. But if both your friends' PS3s didn't heat up as much in your house, it could be a faulty fan and you should try to replace it for a new one if possible ASAP. Also, as the previous poster said, you can try cranking up the AC and seeing if it helps.

Mine "heats up" within 20 minutes. I've heard its common. It also "farts" (the plastic expanding).

Same here.. it gets hot relatively fast and hotter than some other consoles, but I've had it on for extended periods of time without any problem.

Yea- I get that with my February purchased 120Gb slim-It makes loud cracking noises regularly, but never causes any problems.
