i was wondering the same thing just now...i was thinking about doing the full system restore as a last optionsince my system isnt reading any disks...but i need to find a way not to lose my gamesCeeCee0203
IS your PS3 still not reading disks?
I experienced the same problem after installing The Eye of Judgment. While it was saving, the progress bar froze and I exited the game. When I got back to the XMB I noticed that the EOJ Disc wasn't showing up. Put in some onther games and DVDs and they didn't show up either. It was as if the Bluray wasn't reading the discs.
I did a system restore and swapped the original hard drive back in to no avail. I rebooted the system a couple of times and that didn't help either. At this point the Sony rep I was talking with said the words I didn't want to hear "We'll be sending you a shipping box". 10 minutes after getting off the phone it started reading disks again and so far so good.
What's the difference of the Quick System Restore & the Full System Restore?madskillz8Full restore will delete all your files on hard drive+takes several hours to complete.Your PS3 will go back to its original state except that the firmware version remains the same as whatever you've last installed.
But do you know if the system reverts to the factory firmware version?Please_ThankYou
Nope, it'll keep the current firmware.
Well shucks. Alright then... anyone out there in teh internets have any suggestions? I applied the new firmware yesterday, and when the system booted back up, it was totally boned. In fact, I haven't even been able to get the system restore to initiate yet. It crashes when I start the process.
Am I going to have to ship it back to Sony, miss the GTA lauch, and then kill myself and anyone in my immediate vicinity because I'm not man enough to cope with the loss?
Edit: Purged redundant yesterday object.
